First, the EITs used by psychologists James Mitchell and Bruce Jessen, including waterboarding, were recognized as torture techniques by human rights experts and institutions LONG BEFORE they were employed by the #CIA at black sites. It is simply untrue to claim otherwise.

Second, James Mitchell WAS an @APA member during the time he was torturing #CIA prisoners. He resigned from #APA several years later, in 2006. This point is not open to debate. Nevertheless, the APA Ethics Office did NOT pursue an ethics complaint against him when it could.

"The National Psychologist" editors should correct these errors, and the American Psychological Association leadership should encourage them to do so. @APA
