Over the past week, like many universities, we have seen an increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in our university community.
Our unique rapid testing system provides results within 24 hours and that means we have been able to identify positive cases coming into Exeter and ensure individual isolation and support immediately.
Today, we know from Public Health England that of the 58 cases reported in Devon over the past 7 days a little over half are attributable to the University. In Cornwall, there are less than 5 cases at the University.

The new 'Rule of Six' comes into force today. For your safety, and the safety of our community, please make sure you take 10 minutes to read the current guidance in the below thread πŸ‘‡
πŸ‘Ž You must not meet in a group of more than six people indoors or outdoors. This is against the law; police can issue fines of Β£100.

πŸ§β€β™€οΈβ†”οΈπŸ§β€β™‚οΈ When socialising with anyone you do not live with you should remain 2 metres apart.
🏠 Your household bubble is all the people who live in your flat/house.

⭐️ If you live in a household of more than six you can gather in public or private. However, you will not be able to join with anyone from outside of your household.

We want to express our understanding and concern for the hugely difficult situation in which so many students find themselves after receiving their results this year. 1/6
We understand the widespread upset and have listened to feedback from many schools and colleges about the individual situations of many students. We share the concern and sadness of so many parents and carers who have been unable to celebrate as they had hoped. 2/6
We have already agreed, in relation to appealed results, that if your grades change by 7th September so that you meet our requirements, we will honour the place offered. 3/6

As you may be aware, a very small number of students have refused to leave the Alumni Auditorium in the Forum Building. All other Forum areas are operating as normal including the Library, Career Zone and retail outlets. (1/5)
However we know that around 2500 students may still face disruption to their scheduled teaching as a result of this unjustifiable disruption and we are therefore contacting those affected with details of rearranged sessions. (2/5)
The University respects the right to protest on campus and indeed we see and approve almost daily demonstrations on a range of issues on campus but this group are acting of their own accord with no mandate for causing disruption to teaching this week. (3/5)

The University respects the right to protest, but this group are acting of their own accord with no mandate for causing disruption to the teaching of hundreds of students (2/4)
this week. Accordingly, they have been given notice to vacate.
The students are being visited by Guild Officers to check on their safety and welfare and of course they are free to leave at any time. (3/4)

One of the major recommendations in our #ClimateEmergency plan is to reduce products & practices with high environmental impact, including the amount of meat served, but particularly increase provision of healthy & sustainable items, promoting benefits of local & seasonal produce
We also have targets to radically reduce waste from food, packaging, and #plastics.
