REVENGE OR FORGIVE?

We are not all equal, & Allah (SWT) didn't create us so. We differ in size, shape, origin & quality. Thus, what Hidima can tolerate may not be tolerated by you & vice versa. This is just human. Among the attributes of man, patience is a virtue Allah loves.
He (SWT) Has at several places Has commended the patient ones & Has described how he loves them. Attributes generally, as classified by scholars fall under two categories. Either those that are Absolutely Commendable, or those that are commendable at times, condemnable at times.
Patience, however, is an attribute that is always commendable.

Despite that, due to the perfect Justice of Allah (SWT), He permits revenge. This is so, because it is not everyone that can be patient at all times. Some people ll rather spit it out than hold it & hurt inside.
Thus, it is justifiable to revenge if you're wronged, harmed, insulted in an obvious manner that no one can deny to revenge. However, one must not transgress/overstep the limits to which he or she has been harmed, wronged or insulted. If it is wrong, Allah (SWT) won't permit it.
“Allah does not like that the evil should be uttered in public except by him who has been wronged. And Allah is Ever All‑Hearer, All‑Knower” [Quran 4:148].

As-Sa‘di (RH) said:

Here Allah tells us that He does not like evil to be uttered in public, i.e.,
He hates, dislikes it & punishes one who does that. That includes all bad words that may cause hurt & make people sad, such as reviling, slandering, or impugning.

However, the verse says: “except by him who has been wronged”.
This means, it is permissible for someone harmed
cheated, insulted or attacked to attack back in the same manner he has been attacked.

Allah (SWT) also said:

“And indeed whosoever takes revenge after he has suffered wrong, for such there is no way (of blame) against them.

(42:41-42).
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (RA) that the Prophet (blessings & peace of Allah be upon him) said:

“When two people revile one another, the sin of what they say is on the one who started it, so long as the one who is wronged does not overstep the mark.”.

[Muslim].
Allah, may He be exalted, says:

“The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof” [42:40].

“The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof; but whoever forgives & makes reconciliation, his reward is with Allah. Verily, He likes not the Zaalimoon (oppressors,
polytheists, & wrongdoers)” [42:40].

Sometimes it is hard to hold on, which is just human & so long as you didn't transgress the limit when paying back, Allah won't punish you for that.

Some are Abubakars & some are Umars. If you know, you know. 😇
*There is a third class of attribute, which are always condemnable.
