US District Judge Reggie Walton ordered the release of communication he's had with US prosecutors in DC in a FOIA case related to Andrew McCabe. He had expressed concern in recent weeks about secrecy in the case at.law.com/3e2Kbt?cmp=sha… /// at.law.com/wZcArx?cmp=sha…
DC prosecutors told Walton on Sept. 30 that the McCabe matter, despite earlier statements predicting closure soon, remained unresolved. "What I can tell you, and I tell this sincerely as a career prosecutor, Your honor, this is an exceedingly difficult matter and situation."
Judge Reggie Walton, at Sept. 30 hearing in McCabe-related FOIA: "I don't think people like the fact that you got somebody at the top basically trying to dictate whether somebody should be prosecuted. I just think it's a banana republic when we go down that road."
Judge Walton told DOJ at Sept. 30 McCabe FOIA hearing: "I'm just happy when I was in the Justice Department those type of things were not taking place that were putting either perceived or actual pressure on the office as to whether you prosecute somebody for a criminal offense."
