I've said it before, and I'll repeat it forever...

Climate change alarmism is the externalisation of an institution's internal, existential crises.

It is charts like this which are *far* more significant than charts showing global temperature, Arctic sea ice extent, etc.
Alarmism is the desperate, wildly flailing, tragic attempt to sustain a grasp on reality, and to try to drag the rest of society into the crisis -- immanent demise.
Three examples...

The Church. As above.

The Monarchy. So green. Crisis ridden.

The UK's legacy political parties. All green. All totally disconnected from their traditional bases & the public. The Govt only surviving by not being quite as crazy as the opposition.
The Lords!!! The House of Lords, which everyone apart from those destined for it wants to abolish, should be renamed the House of Blobs.

It's so incredibly green. And a grotesque anachronism. It's not a coincidence.
Our anonymous rulers - quangos & quangocrats. They decide how much sugar you're allowed in your tea (none), and how much booze you may drink (one glass @ Xmas and not all at once).

They are all so utterly green because, if they don't FO, we will eventually burn them down.
The BBC! The actual sewer of climate alarmism, pumping raw alarmist excreta into every home, as if its life depended on it...

*** !!! NEWSFLASH !!! ***

The BBC's life DOES depend on it.
Academe. The origin of the excreta. Or so academics like to claim. But really, they are mostly in hock to their benefactors: the Lords and Quangocrats (see above) in charge of their budgets and the billionaire benefactors of vanity projects.

It's a deep postmodern malaise. >>
>> that the "Climate Emergency" has given the tired, dusty, irrelevant and sad geography departments respite from.

The fact is that most of academia is not equal to the tasks that it has been set. It reinvents itself in the image of the crisis.
Now we have "climate change psychologists", and "climate change philosophers" at shiny new £multi-million research "centres".

Why?

Because you can't do academic psychology or philosophy without a crisis, obvs.
