This weekend I've done a deep dive into CO2 emissions of gasoline and diesel production.

Turns out you must add a whopping 30% for gasoline and 24% for diesel!

So that's on top of the emissions in the brochure.

My new blog for @InnoOrigins.

TR;DR: we always knew that diesel and gasoline didn't simply rain down into your tank but new studies show that more CO2 is emitted in the process of getting the stuff out of the ground: science.sciencemag.org/content/361/64…
And other new studies show that refineries also add a lot of carbon emissions. link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Everything taken together I will now use:

Gasoline: 3140 grams CO2 equivalent per litre
Diesel:3310 grams CO2 equivalent per litre
Heads up as promised to @DrSimEvans @colinmckerrache and @remcomeeder. Big thanks to @jgkoomey.

And to everyone: please let me know if you think I got something wrong!

(That's especially true for @BM_Visser and @Sustainable2050 ;-)
