If you have read thread in the Spygate:Origins series, then you’re aware that Micheal Ledeen doesn’t like the CIA and the CIA doesn’t like him.
2\

That wasn’t always the case, however.

In the 1970’s, Ledeen was, allegedly, a CIA asset. In particular, he was known for his work in Italy.

I just happened to find an article alleging this relationship in the CIA reading library

At the time, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) at Georgetown University was considered a hotbed of activity for former and current CIA employees.

Ledeen was the editor of the Center’s journal, The Washington Review.
5\

In February 1978, Ledeen wrote a letter to Ray Cline, former Deputy Director of the FBI and father-in-law of Stefan Halper, to request help in organizing a roundtable discussion on the subject of problems in the intelligence community with former CIA directors.
6\

The next month, March 1978, the round table occurred with Ledeen moderating.

As you can tell from the question, Ledeen was growing disenchanted with the CIA in 78.

When and why Ledeen and CIA fell out will be the subject of a future thread.
