THREAD: In light of Oprah's friend Weinstein now a convicted rapist, here's a refresher of another Oprah friend whose scams of "faith healing" were promoted heavily across all of Oprah's platforms for years...who's a serial rapist w/ hundreds of abuse complaints.

John of God.

John of God (João Teixeira de Faria) was one of the blatant con-artists that Oprah openly endorsed and promoted on her show.

From the 1980s onward, Oprah continually bought into mass-hysteria and paranormal fraudsters while promoting scam books and services to gullible viewers.

Oprah's magazine featured John of God in 2010; he was also featured on one of her specials soon-after.

Oprah helped legitimize his sideshow gags (simple magic tricks debunked decades prior by James Randi) by offering a "skeptic" on her show who did nothing but vouch for him.

Oprah brought John of God back for her own network in 2013 & hosted a follow-up w/ people who had been "healed in unexpected ways."

Oprah promoted this dangerous crook—who made millions selling fake products to the ill—instead of exposing the scam and promoting medical science.

In 2018, John of God was indicted for rape after accusations from hundreds of women.

In 2019 he was sentenced to 19 years.

It is interesting to note that prosecutors in John's case announced a hotline to receive tips of abuse. Within 30 hours they had received over 200 abuse allegations from nine states and across countries.

(In MJ's case, Sneddon promoted 2 tip lines. This yielded no leads, ever.)

When Oprah learned of these allegations, did she dedicate another show to apologize for befriending and promoting him? Did she feel remorse for endorsing outright fraud at the expense of human lives, including how he was accused of 600+ abuses?

No. Oprah barely made a peep.

Oprah tried to downplay her role in promoting John—an eventually convicted rapist & life-long fraud—Oprah issued a two sentence statement to NYTimes.

Oprah omitted mention of her 2010 show & pub, 2013 follow-up & didn't mention her very positive coverage of "controversial" John.

Oprah's staff worked hard to wipe her prior interviews and favorable coverage of "world renowned" John of God from the Internet.

John's story was referenced in many of Oprah's "miracle" type stories since 2010. Even after deletions, there remains 14 "related" references to him.

→ After John of God was accused by 200 women.
→ After Tony Robbins was accused by 9 women.

But she rushed to do one to promote LN against MJ.
