#Thread based on witness accounts of 6 girls (my roommate's sister & friends) reached my one room home in morning who were present in protests:

1) Protest was completely peaceful. We were shouting slogans such as "Awaaz do hum ek hain", "Tiranga humara hai, Modi Awara hai", 1/n
"Modivaad se azaadi", "We want justice". No anti Hindu slogans were raised. We just wanted to march to parliament.

2) Jamia doesn't have a union, student president etc, we never do protests like JNU. Yet when JNU, DU protests, no one enters their campuses, but they entered ours!
Is it because we are a Muslim university? (This is been said by Hindu girls by the way).

3. The police beating us in protests were in jeans and Tshirts, wearing anti riots gear. We don't even know if they were police or miscreants. Just like miscreants may have entered protests
4. We were at Tikona park and received calls from the boys to go back to the university ki mahaul kharab hai, so we ran back. Boys were calling girls first to ensure they are sent back. Once back we were really angry at the students apathetically sitting in library and studying.
We were like inko koi farak hi nahi pad raha hai, they are selfishly engrossed in their lives! Minutes later we left & it was these very students who suffered. Police entered the library, threw tear gas bombs inside, students were getting suffocated. Why? They were just studying.
5. The girl you see in the video pushing police is our classmate. She's so soft spoken we have never seen her shout this way.

6. Our parents insisted we stay in campus hostel because it's safe. Yesterday that myth was broken. Police even entered the girls' hostel ground floor.
Because a few protestors ran and hid in the hostel.

7. They keep insisting "We don't even believe that most were police. We were present in the protests & police tried to disperse by hitting lathi on ground. They were lifting lathis but not hitting. They were asking us to run."
8. Even despite all this environment, our cooks came and cooked breakfast today morning.

9. During protests we constantly got bananas, biscuits, water, etc from strangers.

10. Help was available from hospitals who made it free, lawyers, all kind of good Samaritans.
10. "Our Kashmiri classmates used to talk about atrocities. We would think they exaggerate & act as victims. Humari ek hi din mein haalat kharaab ho gayi, unka dard first time realize hua. Wo kitne saalon se seh rahe hai! They were the most chilled of all saying this is so mild."
11. They mention that even a couple of girls who were hiding in female washrooms light off karke, were molested.

12. "Now we understand how media twists stories, how sold they are. They are not reporting the right facts. They are trying to show that the victims are violent."
13. Finally one girl from a small town breaks into tears. "Bas ab mere parents meri padhai band karwa denge ki safe nahi hai! Meri zabardasti shaadi karwa di jayegi. I will not be allowed to come back to Delhi ever."
14. We have never seen better behavior from men in my life. All boys formed human chains to protect girls. They ensured they stay a couple of feet away so they don't fall on the girls even if they are pushed. They were being hit but they stood there waiting till all girls left.

"But they did. And we are not signing. They entered J&K girls' hostel and checked each & every room. And no female police." Their friends still in the hostel are messaging them.

By law you can't even detain females or take them to station between sunset & sunrise. But women were rounded off last night taken to police station. You all saw videos. Did you see a single female policewoman rounding up the girls? The anger is real.
