Very excited to share our recent work examining the cell type composition and layer-specific connectivity matrix of clonally related excitatory neurons in mouse neocortex elifesciences.org/articles/52951 with @AToliasLab @CellTypist @hippopedoid @fabiansinz @xlchiang and @sandberglab.
We found that clones labeled early in development (at E10.5 in mouse) are composed of diverse transcriptomic cell types.
Rather than being uniformly connected to one another, as previously thought, related neurons showed a layer-specific connectivity pattern in which only vertical (across-layer) connections were increased; lateral (within-layer) connections were not increased between related cells.
