Colin Wright has either no idea how clueless he sounds, or--just as likely--he doesn't care because his audience doesn't care. For someone wanting to work in research or academia, these clueless claims that he's been repeating (for months) are rather embarrassing.
And I am being very very nice about it.
You can pat me on the back for my civility if you wish. Though only virtually. No actual pats, hugs, or handshakes at this time in our virus-challenged lives!
In cause you’re wondering, I’ll tell you why I keep asking this question of Colin Wright and Emma Hilton, and why I keep making this point.

Wright & Hilton’s insist on biological sex absolutism—that means (1) sex is determined by gametes and is binary, male and female, and (2) the state should register and everyone should be able to know other people’s biological sex which they strictly separate from gender.
Their arguments tend to overemphasize (1). It is the point on which they, as trained biologists, can claim the most expertise.

Next, they claim that when trans folk & others point out how in biology, too, knowledge concepts are created in language, they don’t know a thing.
It’s clear, however, that epistemology, language, and discourse are not fields in which Wright and Hilton are experts.

And neither are the law, ethics, or political philosophy.

Why does this matter when Wright and Hilton talk about biological sex?
Because of point (2) above—Wright and Hilton want to claim some authority in arguing how they think the state should register people’s identity and how people should know other people’s registered identity. They assert such right is the right to know a state of nature.
Ask yourself—do you think that the person who is entering a public bathroom right after you has a right to ask you what exactly is in your pants? If the answer doesn’t satisfy them, do you think they have the right to know whether your body produces sperm or ova?
Do you think that for the benefit of the person who asks you these questions, your government ID should state whether your body produces sperm or ova?

Colin Wright’s activist campaign is aimed to get to exactly that point.
This is a political campaign—where Colin is far out of his area of expertise. Given he‘s so obsessed with getting people to register biological sex, it’s only fair to ask:

You claim to be a cis man, Colin, but what evidence have we? When are we going see proof of your gametes?
I understand why many patiently point out to Colin what is rather basic knowledge relating to concepts of sex/gender from the humanities & social science fields that have researched & pondered this for decades. He is entrenched in his campaign, however.
Re-posting this by John Jackson, whose work you should read, because it is so accurate.

A not unexpected development.
