@MaximSmyrnyi @rasmansa @SeanV2Oh @PsychPLockwood In my view, this debate is part of regular public discussion about scholars' claims. In my view, Colin is on his own path of harming his reputation with the inexpert claims he keeps making about trans issues.
He has the academic freedom to do so...under conditions of employment.

@MaximSmyrnyi @rasmansa @SeanV2Oh @PsychPLockwood If he's not currently employed, then in my understanding, there is little protecting his academic freedom to make highly inexpert & arguably harmful claims. He has the right to speak publicly as everyone else who doesn't have academic freedom has.
@MaximSmyrnyi @rasmansa @SeanV2Oh @PsychPLockwood Academic freedom is a concept that only seems to have legal teeth when one has an employer against whom one can bring an accusation of not safeguarding academic freedom.
