Question for finance/econ twitter about Government policy and the furloughed workers scheme ("CJRS").

Someone has leaked papers to me showing a really big employer who made staff redundant before CJRS was announced paying, say, enhanced redundancy of 100. When CJRS was...
... announced said big employer wrote to those staff saying 'you can keep the 100 or we can furlough you and make you redundant when the furlough ends. You'll receive 90 and we'll then give you statutory refundancy of 30.' Ie the employees will be better off by 20....
... the employer will be better off by 70 and the staff will stay redundant. So the 90 comes from the fisc and is basically helicopter money to the big employer and the employees and doesn't save a single job.

I am pretty outraged by this - am I right to be?

The legislation is to be found in the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020. And they control one's ability to purchase Easter eggs in two ways.
First, they restrict whether you may leave the place where you are living for the purpose of purchasing Easter eggs.

In my expert opinion, you can't.

The truth is that we have no sound data on asymptomatic spread/carriers, & we're completely in the dark on this because the government has not made forensics a priority whatsoever. So the Surgeon General's reversal on masks you saw today is just a means of playing both sides.
Our policy on tracking COVID-19's trails remains akin to shooting at a piñata from 100 yards away while standing on one foot with a blindfold on. This will remain the same, unless the WH COVID-19 task force is staffed with new leadership.
New policy is essentially: "well, I guess it can't hurt to wear a mask!" It may help, it may just increase paranoia & neighborhood snitching. Who knows? Ur fearless bureaucrats in the Dept of Pandemia are being led by shoddy models, while u remain on lockdown. Update in 2 weeks!

Ramappa temple - Warangal

Ramappa temple, also called Ramalingeshwara temple is located in Palampet, 76km from Warangal. It was completed in 1213 CE during time of Kakatiya ruler Ganapati Deva & built by General Recharla Rudra.
The main structure is in reddish sandstone and it has brackets of black basalt. It stands on a 6" high star shaped platform.
It is the only temple that is named after its sculptor.

On entering the compound we see a smaller shivalay called Kateshwara gudi is in ruined state.
Inside Nandi and carvings are all damaged.
Yet it must have been beautiful at one time.
Bricks of Ramappa temple float on water, which is unique.

November is still autumn - it's not winter, we do winter here - but it ain't October, either. October can be the most beautiful month of the year here.
You may know that bodies of water stabilize climates, under the old normal at least. Before we got so smart. Or something.
2. Water is energy dense, and in planetary terms it's big. It takes a lot of energy to warm a body of water, and when air tends to cool, water can supply a lot of energy back into it before it "cools" (contains significantly less energy).
So - in summer, water cools the land,
3. and in winter, water warms the land. Temperature swings are reduced or minimized by big bodies of water.
