A Chinese Animal Crossing player has set up a store on their Island where other players can buy custom designed in game items from them.

They added their WeChat Pay and AliPay QR codes as a custom design in the game so people can send them real world money for the items. lol
Mobile payments are extremely popular in China. Similar to ApplePay for example. You just scan the QR code of the other persons mobile wallet and you can send them money instantly.

Which is what they have done here.
The dude basically created his own in game economy.

- Lockdown & self isolation leads to a surge in gaming and video time / spend. 1- Is safe. 2- Pass the time / escapism. 3- Offline retail, entertainment, tourism are not options.
- Primarily boosts online competitive and live service games. 1- AAA experiences. 2- Stay in touch with friends. 3- New content to drive engagement.

- Also boosts non competitive games with social/online elements. 1- Metaverse concept 2- Explore game worlds with friends.
- Continued shift from physical to digital in terms of full game sales and add on content. 1- Retail disruption. 2- More convenient 3- ISP's remove caps.

- Physical has a short term boost through retail games and peripherals. 1- Games for lockdown. 2- Home office / gaming setup.

Plague Inc, the popular simulation game where the goal is to infect everyone in the world with a deadly virus, has been removed from the iOS app store in China.

The Cyber Administration of China says the game included illegal content. No other specifics.

The game originally released about 8 years and was #1 on the iOS App Store in 2014.

Since COVID-19 the game has been topping the paid iOS game charts in China and around the world.

Speculation for why it could have been removed.

1. The game was never actually licensed to launch in China. It launched prior to that law coming into place.

2. The virus always starts in China no matter what. Might be an issue?

3. Might mislead people looking for advice?

With Platinum Games having secured an investment from Tencent, which will allow the company to pursue a multi platform strategy for self developed IP, we should start to hear more about what they’ve been working on soon.
Platinum was looking at multiple options last year, in order to secure funding for larger projects.

Some smaller projects were put on the back burner, but now that the company is stable they can begin to carry out those original plans and ideas.

Since people asked - Platinum has the ability to bring W101 to other platforms. Tencent funding is more for long term multi platform projects though, not back catalog.

Platinum will look to fund back catalog ports separately, now that it has some stability from Tencent.

If containment fails, and this projection comes true, the hardships that the world would experience during the onset of the first coronavirus pandemic would be hard to comprehended through our current eyes. A first for the modern world.
That’s further out, but if COVID-19 does break through to influenza scale, the benefit would be in a substantial population of immunity & antibodies. Those prospects are now where China is focusing. Antibody donation could improve outcomes; that’s moving from secondary priority.
The best outcome of a worst case scenario would be herd immunity. But, millions would die, medical infrastructure would be overwhelmed at even a fraction of the early generational spread, & the world would be on pause. Transfusion is not the golden ticket; you need a lot of infra

Unsurprisingly, more information was withheld by the Chinese government. COVID-19 had reached Guangdong by January 4th. Wuhan's lockdown only began on the 23rd. This is a probelm far bigger than Hubei and China.
Alternate reality: Theranos Ends Pandemic
It's so sad to read these stories of China's state of unrest. Trust is degraded. This is not a society that will return to normal with a snap of fingers and bans lifted. China is damaged, could be for years, & we're not even near the end of this epidemic.

The man, surnamed Chan, was travelling by bus on Friday from Hong Kong to Macau, his son said.

The disappearance first emerged on Saturday when the man’s son told local media his father had texted to say he was being detained while passing through an artificial island manned by Chinese police on his way to the semi-autonomous city of Macau.
The artificial island in the middle of the Pearl River Delta lies in Chinese mainland waters.

Mainland police set up a new checkpoint there last week with X-ray machines and facial recognition checks ahead of an upcoming visit to Macau by President Xi Jinping.
