Six identical units were purchased by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria in 1952. These were eventually sold to VR numbered F212-216. VR renumbered the remaining F class to F201-211 for numbers for S class 300 series.

One of the first trains heading north over the new section was the Q150 Steam Train. Image

Camels were vital to the Australian economy from 1860s to 1930s but Australia has not been kind to them. Even the very first camel imported to Australia was shot in 1846!

By the way, Camels also represent a historical connection of Afghans & Islam with Australia.

The Europeans -mainly British- settlers and explorers were trying to explore the inland of Australia but they couldn't carry out any successful expeditions with their horses in the difficult and unfriendly terrain.
It was in late 1850s/early 1860s that the Royal Society of Victoria decided to import camels from India & Afghanistan for an expedition to cross the continent overland from south to north. Some 24 camels & three Afghans were brought in to Melbourne from Karachi in June 1860.

A good time to post up this 1840 manuscript page describing a #Gunditjmara village of 20-30 houses, each able to hold up to a dozen people, at newly World Heritage-listed Budj Bim.

Many are still ignorant that such permanent dwellings existed.

Not that there's anything particularly unique/"civilized" about permanent houses. If your food sources are all in one place it makes sense to build something more permanent and so they developed alongside intensive agri-/aqua-culture, but not having them isn't some great lack.
However, traditionally they are seen as a marker of "civilization" so traditionally non-Indigenous Australia has pretended Indigenous Australia didn't have them. 🙄
