We've heard that it is certain - there WILL be large civil lawsuits against Fox. We believe that "discovery" will show they intentionally spread disinformation - much as the tobacco companies did with nicotine. The disinformation will also align with Trump's messaging - to a tee.
The word "intentionally" has legal significance, akin to premeditation in a criminal matter How do lawyers prove intent? If the disinformation aligns in real time and content with Trump's messaging, they'd argue it establishes the civil equivalent of "motive," or intent.

(1/2) Yesterday, Trump began by accusing nurses of hoarding or stealing face masks. He then accused hospitals of hoarding ventilators. He then admits there actually ARE shortages, but blames Obama. This is beyond gaslighting. This is like spewage from a radioactive gas cloud.
(2/2) Nothing to compare it to, but what comes closest is when we watched the Soviet gov't press briefings about Chernobyl, when the reactor was still burning and Russians didn't realize we could actually SEE it from orbit. Radiation meters sounded an alarm over half the planet.
Similarly, alarms about Trump's handling of - well, everything - are blaring loud and clear across the country. Yet somehow (and sadly) these alarms are only heard by half the country. Getting the rest of the country to bear witness to the alarms we hear is an important challenge

(1/2) USSR lied about Chernobyl. Japan lied about Fukushima. China has lied about Coronavirus. Countries lie for many reasons - ego, global standing, honor, propaganda. America has been far from perfect, but comparatively transparent. Now we run on bombast, spin, and narcissism.
The fact that we have a leader devoid of half the human emotional spectrum has not come into play yet as much as it will now. The fact that we have blind complicity among the lawmakers in his party means that the only thing that to likely move a needle is American deaths. (more)
FACT: He gutted our protective layer. FACT: He cut budgets to the CDC. FACT: He keeps taking steps to insulate us from science and learning. We cannot slide these under the rug. They have to be acknowledged regardless of how serious this pandemic becomes. The MSM has to do that.

(3/3) Trump made a fraudulent promise to self-finance his own campaign. He knew then he couldn't (and wouldn't). Bloomberg is doing THE VERY THING Trump said he would do and was unable. This attacks his veracity, his wealth, AND his manhood. That is weakness. It consumes him.

Unsurprisingly, more information was withheld by the Chinese government. COVID-19 had reached Guangdong by January 4th. Wuhan's lockdown only began on the 23rd. This is a probelm far bigger than Hubei and China.
Alternate reality: Theranos Ends Pandemic
It's so sad to read these stories of China's state of unrest. Trust is degraded. This is not a society that will return to normal with a snap of fingers and bans lifted. China is damaged, could be for years, & we're not even near the end of this epidemic.

What is happening in Wuhan is not related to a biological weapon, or a human-caused accidental release, and this emergent reporting of a Chinese national being removed from a Canadian lab is in no way related.
