1/ Hi all -- I've requested, and @TuckerGoodrich had generously agreed to a re-interview.

We'll record today and I'll have it up soon after.

2/ While the original was more debate-like in its format, many pointed to my being unusually interruptive, impatient, and didn't allow completion his analysis at one point.

I was surprised to read these comments at first and rewatched much of the video. The comments were right!
3/ I've certainly had many debate/discussions, such as those with the #CholesterolScience series. And while there can be interruptions, talking over each other, etc -- I think (or at least I hope) I manage to maintain graciousness and professionalism as much as possible.
4/ And while I do think much of the interview was very friendly, I felt at times I didn't meet my own standards as a host a number of times.

There's a great saying in journalism, "You're too close to the story."

Kinda like, "You're too close to the family" for law enforcement
5/ In the last few years I've come to know a lot of doctors and healthcare professionals who are now very close friends. Many of them were warning me when I got back March 6 that this pandemic was very serious and would disrupt our lives substantially.
6/ And indeed, there are many of them I've since read and listened to with stories from the front lines of this thing which have certainly had an emotional impact on me. As always, I seek to compartmentalize the emotional from the rational as needed...
7/ ... But I think the combination of sleep dep of the night before in combination with some very tense discussions right up to the recording of the interview may have put me in a less ideal place to host. While this might help to explain the difference, it doesn't excuse it.
8/ I'm unpacking this mainly because I believe failing can be as much (if not more valuable) than succeeding, so long as you can successfully learn from the outcome and how best to correct the course.
