We have over 800,000 #suicide deaths annually all over the globe. Not many had paid attention to this silent disaster happening amongst us.

But one particular actor, Mr #SushantSinghRajput, took his life and it has become the talk of the town in India since 14th June 2020.
Rajput's suicide was supposed to be because he was under #depression for a while now. This has thrown the much-needed limelight on #MentalHealth and how people are constantly under stress, etc.

At least popular personalities committing #suicide is getting some attention.
Such awareness is good.

But even at such challenging times, some people are trying to make political / ideological gains out of tragedies like this.

These people have started taking statements made by people out of their contexts and twisting them for their own vested agendas.
One such is Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev's quote from 2018 which is being twisted and taken out of context by people.

"Whatever happens, you getting depressed is not a solution. You getting depressed would be one more problem."
One look at this quote on #depression and it is pretty obvious that he is not talking about people who are already under depression.

He is talking to people who may get themselves into depression because of some life situation not working out for them.
Has he denied depression as a clinical illness?
NO!

Has he suggested anything dangerous for people who suffer depression?
NO!

Has he suggested that Yoga is the only way to cure depression?
NO!

Has he claimed that he and only his techniques can treat depression?
NO!
So, it is clear that people are taking something completely out of context and attack Sadhguru unnecessarily.

I had earlier written a detailed post about what he had actually spoken about #depression and that it is inline with what science says too: bit.ly/SGDepression
Scientific studies today are saying that for many patients dealing with #depression, anxiety, or stress, #yoga may be a very appealing way to better manage symptoms.

There are studies suggesting that with therapy and sometimes medication, there's a lot one can do on their own to fight back #depression. Changing physical activity, lifestyle, and one's way of thinking are all natural depression treatments.

According to a Harvard Mental Health Letter, recent studies suggest that #yoga can:

- reduce the impact of stress
- help with anxiety and #depression
- be a self-soothing technique similar to meditation, relaxation, and exercise
- improve energy

First of all, Sadhguru is talking about stopping people going into depression. Secondly, science today shows that for people into depression already, yoga can be an alternate therapy.

When a scientist says it, some people seem to be OK and when a Yogi says it, they attack him!
How can someone even take that quote of Sadhguru and twist it out saying he is insensitive towards people with depression?

This only goes on to show how Sadhguru and Isha Foundation are yet again being used as punching bag, for their personal vendettas, by certain groups.
