1/6 Thread: In time to mess with your weekend and (my) Father's Day: Latest #COVID19 numbers for Harris County (#Houston) #Texas (@HoustonChron @bcmhouston @TXMedCenter) show numbers climbing rapidly in terms of cases, hospitalizations, ICU admissions. Let's start with #Texas:

2/6 Thread: Harris County #COVID19 Cases

3/6 Thread: #COVID19 hospitalizations in our @TXMedCenter (world's largest medical center where I work)

4/6 Thread: Now ICU admissions in our @TXMedCenter starting to move into the yellow. So we still have lots of ICU occupancy space left but....we need to watch this one, since we learned in NYC as ICU beds fill staff can become overwhelmed and mortality rates rise

5/6 Thread: And of course the models like this one from @PolicyLabCHOP predict the apocalypse in Harris County. It's a model but it reminds us that by doing nothing the default says we'll continue to climb

6/6 Thread: Now what? Would love to deploy our #COVID19 #vaccine but unfortunately that's not an option. Our tools include: 1) Mandatory masks 2) Testing/contact tracing (CT) 3) Deploy apps for syndromic surveillance CT 4) Revisit our current alert color 5) Dial back the opening
