THE BASIC INCOME THREAD:

I bet the government never thought about these when debating about Basic Income... what if until June 2021 #UBI had happened:

#BasicIncome #Canada #WhatIf #WhyDidntWeThinkofThis #OnlyInCanada
Most families would be able to stay afloat without the cost of borrowing, and by immediate stability it relieved the stress. Domestic Violence can be directly related to Financial Insecurity which increases the risk of increased Health Care costs and Justice system implications
Most families that have jobs if they did qualify for #BasicIncome probably wouldn't qualify in year 2. Especially if it was taxable income. However, the investment in the individual in one year can be enough to secure employment or higher education.
For those that don't really need it, the CRA could have an option for the taxpayer to donate it to charity or towards the national debt, or reject it completely. This eliminates unnecessary payments but still entitled while helping the economy.
For seniors it helps to pay off debts not affordable by pensions. Greater chance of help nationally during crisis'. For those that do save and invest, it will can be passed on to heirs, over years this can help mortgage stability too and less deflection to home equity loans
Students that are suffering through University Courses should not fail because they had to have a minimum wage job to eat a meal. They should not have to live in homes that have 5+ tenants sharing bathrooms because they can't afford rent
The Disabled should not have to live on half of what the federal government says is a cost of living. By creating Basic Income it brings equality Nationally and raises rates for the Disabled in one swoop instead of waiting for 14 governments
By providing a national benefit it encourages growth to other provinces. Without Provincial Programs that you need to Re-Register when you move inter-provincially, it can help to stimulate the private sector by competitive poaching. Releasing barriers can increase employment
By instating a Basic Income you increase the likeliness of better working conditions, living conditions, health conditions, investment conditions, wage gap conditions, sex-wage-gap conditions, racial-wage-gap conditions, increased disabled employment, less evictions, higher ed
Stimulating the economy with the same amount by #CERB and #CEWS doesn't make any difference to the economy. You only patched it. A Basic Income is a means to accountability, transparency and cutting wasteful programs that may be spending more than assisting
By providing a stablility to most low income people, the housing market will stabilize. Landlords will keep tenants longer. Less will be evicted for non-payment. Basic Income won't drive rents up, it'll help to keep a national baseline of affordability
Basic Income can help millions of Canadians from having bad credit. By making a benefit that is not means-tested and encourages employment they can be sure to pay their bills and default less.
A National Basic Income can help low income families qualify for a mortgage as an extra income. Most Provincial Welfare and Assistance programs don't have enough stability or even remotely stable enough to encourage rental and mortgage potentials. National UBI can solve that
Decreases likeliness of Politicians running on tax cut this, program increase that, we will waste less donation dollars on promises of financial stability and more on creative programs to Enhance Life not stabilize it
More Volunteers! After this pandemic it's gonna be hard to find people with enough time to Volunteer, a Basic Income helps to increase the likeliness of Volunteer time, increasing people's lives and our environment.
Long Term Stability - Equals higher Migration and Specialties

Canada didn't hit its Immigration targets. We do need to Immigrate. Our population fluctuates each day, instead of expensive extravagant programs, a Basic Income can help to introduce a stable ability to enter & work
As a national program we can see which areas in a periodic time need more employment opportunities or targeted help. With so many governments running programs it takes YEARS to collect the appropriate data. A National system helps speed up statistics.
Decreased poverty can mean decreased property destruction.
We can help to prevent from crimes, fires, bombs, etc by giving financial security. This can help to save Billions nationally in Damages, Costs, Insurance Rate Increases, Insurance Settlements, Policing, etc
Increased access to healthy food can prevent dental decay. This can save dramatically in the long run on health care costs. Imagine what the price of dentures will be in 2050?
Decreased dependency on basic income and rental needs, the Provincial Governments can concentrate on true help targeted to each individual such as Housing, Accessibility, Level of Care, Fire Inspections, Health Inspections
Decreased amount of non-payment of rent evictions will free up the courts to battle the true virus... Renovictions and increase likeliness of removing true problems such as Crime, Derelict Properties, Drug Houses, Sex Trafficing
A Basic Income may help to prevent Prostitution. Increasing likeliness of better education and opportunities can help take them off the street.
Within 3 years Canada's Average household income would raise by over $20,000. Each $1 of Basic Income can help to generate $2 of GDP. A Basic Income could help raise GDP by as much as 10% !!
Decreasing the amount of Governmental Programs can help to prevent Lost Checks
Missed Payments
Past-Death Payments
In-eligible Payments
Late Checks
Increased Call Center Calls
Increased Stress
Increased Inter-Department Administrative Claw back costs
Decreasing the amount of Governmental Programs can help prevent
Lawsuits against the Government
Audit Costs
Unemployment to program wait times
Costs of Inter-Department income checks & verification
Benefit Loss & Poverty Catch-Up

Like this thread at the top & comment ur thoughts
Basic Income would help to abolish "Incontinence Poverty" such as low-income individuals who can't afford the supplies needed to keep the body clean and keeping mental health on the positive.

No woman or man should have to feel ashamed of themselves because they can't afford it.
Interesting FACT: Combined provincial-territorial and local governments spent $69B or $1,879/person in 2017 on social protection.

The government will tell you that Basic Income is too expensive.
YET with all the Admin $$ its about 2 Mth Rent/person

Children's Services would have a STABLE and fundamental way to make sure that Foster Children do not hit poverty level after turning 18. Not only that, but it can prevent Foster Child abuse by making sure there isn't a financial excuse towards un-affordable lunches.
Basic Income as a National program could help fund the "Tiny Homes Project" for homeless without large money on infrastructure.

Making them modular as well can help in national emergencies with overstock.

UBI could fund this and more...

#BasicIncome

A Universal Basic Income could have been a faster and equivalent way of running the emergency programs of 2020. If fact it could have been easier in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016.... wait it could also be easier in 2021, 2022, 2023...

@JustinTrudeau @theJagmeetSingh @AndrewScheer
Yet again another reason for #BasicIncome ....

Fraud is on the rise due to desperation of unemployment. Cases like this could be avoided by having a Basic Income so they can look for proper work without rushing...

Average rents in #Toronto continue to fall. Could this be related to the $2000/mth federal standard that #CERB is causing?

Would a #BasicIncome continue this trend and possibly save Torontonians thousands a year?

Adding more to our ongoing massive #BasicIncome thread:

Another reason why it should be a PRIORITY in #Canada.

If #CERB pays $2000/mth for the unemployed, then why is our #INJUREDworkers getting less?

Let's start making everyone #EqualCanadians

Fear stops #BasicIncome
A society used to smaller targeted price tags ignores potential & innovation of our society.

We need to revolutionize
Funding #UBI can be done by tiny-home mortgages
Boosting GDP
It creates jobs, tapping more potential & ideas
