For making relevant policy interventions access to quality demand and supply data is imperative. Currently, all data points with respect to businesses are significantly dated. Economic Census Pakistan was conducted in 2005 and World Bank Survey in 2013.
The SME surveys should address the following:
i) financial access behaviour & major impediments
ii) alternative financial arrangements

Businesses should be made aware of the recently launched digital Secured Transactions Registry (STR) which allows financial institutions to record charges or security interests created by unincorporated entities or individuals on their movable assets. karandaaz.com.pk/blog/businesse…

Key Findings:
1. Based on estimation models using A2Fs 2015 data the potential market for microcredit in Pakistan is estimated to be 40.9 million for people aged between 18-65 years.
