2/M.S.S paved the way to temporarily stop returns of asylum-seekers from European members states to Greece due to the malfunctioning of its asylum system and the inadequate living conditions facing individuals.

3/The @COE_Execution should now assess if measures taken by Greece addressed the structural issues found by the Court in the areas of:
- asylum procedures
- living conditions in camps and facilities
- treatment of unaccompanied minors
- use and conditions of migration detention

4/@amnesty monitored the case from the beginning and considers that #Greece has not only failed to take adequate action to address the violations identified in 2009, but developments in the past year risk to create even higher risks.

5/In our submission we flag crucial issues affecting the treatment of #Refugeesgr: the ongoing use of protective custody of unaccompanied minors, the loss of substantive and procedural safeguards resulted from legislative reforms in 2019 and 2020, the abysmal conditions in camps.

6/Aside from issues affecting the quality of life of #Refugeesgr, recent reforms of Greek asylum and migration laws reduced guarantees for individuals going through asylum procedures and expanded the use of migration related detention. Our analysis: bit.ly/2FJn3NZ

7/The continued use of protective custody of unaccompanied minors, consistently denounced by international bodies including in the European Court of Human Rights, and the sub-standard levels of protection to migrant #children, are equally inexcusable. See: bit.ly/35E7fan

Issues found by the #ECtHR in M.S.S. are far from being addressed effectively. On the contrary, it is time for the retrograde steps taken by Greece to be acknowledged.
