Journalist friends say no prior govt has so often claimed it can't answer Qs/provide info &c "because we're in an election." Contradiction: govt can't answer #SiteC Qs but it can proceed with Peace River diversion for a failing dam under cover of election? #BCelxn2020 #bcpoli

Notice all the things this gov't continues to do under cover of election, while saying it can't do anything because the "govt" is in caretaker mode until Oct 24. How on earth was river diversion allowed to take place at #SiteC when, say, Horgan's Milburn review was incomplete?

This is leaving aside the disturbing fact that Horgan and Energy minister Bruce Ralston have signalled that #SiteC cancellation isn't even on the table as a possible conclusion of the opaque Milburn review (whose structure and terms of reference are totally unclear). #fixisin

Many believe that one of the reasons for the election's timing (& it seems there were several) was to coincide with the #SiteC river diversion so that @jjhorgan and @BruceRalston wouldn't have to answer Qs about allowing more destructive work for a dam that's sinking into mud.

@jjhorgan @BruceRalston I mean, it's not as if gov't closes its doors during an election -it has to keep functioning, the province has to keep running. It's not a two month holiday and everyone packs up and goes home. It doesn't get to withhold information about ongoing govt processes.

@jjhorgan @BruceRalston But perhaps someone can fill us in on the minute details of the laws or guidelines governing what information can and cannot be released during the writ period. I'm putting money down that much of the "can't answer Q's now" response is not backed by rules.

@jjhorgan @BruceRalston I'll say this here because I'm 100% sure I will never have to eat my hat: the #SiteC dam can never be functional. The reservoir will never be filled; they can't safely fill it behind a sliding dam. Liability too high.

@jjhorgan @BruceRalston They can "build"" #SiteC all right, & engineering/ construction corps can keep making coin off us until the bitter end, but they'll never make it stable & safe, & turbines won't won't turn if structures are shifting.

Even before #BCelxn2020 whole project was shrouded in secrecy.
