He was appointed professor at Hildesheim, Fribourg, Ratisbon and Strasbourg, successively. In the chair at Paris
3. he gained great fame. Among his beloved pupils was Thomas Aquinas.
He was later appointed Bishop of Ratisbon.
He wrote many things on almost every branch of learning, especially on sacred subjects.

~thread~ 1. Born, perhaps in Hungary, in 1045, Margaret took refuge in the court of Malcolm III of Scotland after the Battle of Hastings. She married him in 1070.
2. She lived with great piety, spending her time in prayer and fasting, caring for the poor. She used her position to reform the abuse of the time, and had synods held to this end. The Church of the Holy Trinity at Dunfermline was founded at her benefaction.

3. He was present in Rome (A.D. 1179) at the Lateran Council, and returned to Ireland with the powers of a Legate.

~thread~ 1. St Frances Xavier Cabrini was born into a farming family in Lombardy, Italy, in 1850. She was attracted to a missionary life from an early age and founded the Institute
2. of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Codogno in 1880. Her original missionary dream was to go to China but historical circumstances prevented this. Pope Leo XIII directed her to the United States, where millions of Italians were arriving in search of work
3. and with the hope of a better life.
Over the next 30 years she established 67 foundations in Europe, the United States and Central and South America. This included schools, hospitals, orphanages and social centres. She established a school in Honor Oak, South London.
