This week we found out:

Alberta doctors agreed to meet the government’s demand to cap physician spending at 4.57B. That offer has been sitting on Shandro’s desk for 19 days.

Why didn’t Shandro accept it or at least offer a counter proposal?

Alberta doctors started negotiating in November, but has had 6 proposal shot down by Shandro. Before negotiations began, Shandro introduced legislation to tear up the contract with Alberta doctors should negotiations fail.

The legislation allowed Shandro to terminate @Albertadoctors’ contract and bypass the constitutional right to binding arbitration.

Tyler took away their masks 👩‍🚒
Tyler took away their hazard pay 🧯
Tyler ripped up their contract 🧨
Tyler fought their union in every way 🚒

Tyler yelled on their driveways,
Tyler called them at night;
Tyler said they got paid too
much, and that wasn't right.
Then along came Corona🦠
A deadly arsonist to fight,
Burning down hospitals,🔥
Doctors worked all through the night.

But STILL Tyler took away their masks.
Again Tyler took away their hazard pay
Tyler kept their contract ripped up,
Tyler fought their union every day

This is a story about Tyler and Undrea Shambro, their friend Jason and their adventure into politics.

One day, Tyler (a lawyer by trade) became a Health Minister. He was in charge of a health crisis. One that was in the works for years: #Privatization

Then a deadly virus, Corona, came along that and a president drink bleach.

But that wouldn't stop Tyler from doing his job.

The UCP's 10-step plan for turning a democracy into a dictatorship.

1. First, destroy labor unions, so people have no way to bargain for higher wages and less capacity for political organization.

2. Crack down on college students, so they won’t oppose you (hint: burden them with so much student debt and make it so hard for them to find good jobs that they won’t dare rock the boat).

3. Undermine public education, so people are less able to think critically for themselves.

@roger4LivMac If this was about sustainability, the evidence is clear that investing in primary care is where lives and money can be saved.

These cuts do the opposite.

These cuts just serve @shandro and his private insurance company.
@roger4LivMac @shandro Adding Family Physicians to a population improves health outcomes greater than any other physician group. For every additional 10 family physicians per 100,000 population, there are 15 fewer deaths, 40 fewer hospitalizations7 and an average increase in life expectancy of 52 days

Now that @Albertadoctors are getting the courts to support the fight against #COVID19, it is time we use our energy to unite with other advocacy groups in Alberta for all social issues that affect our patients.

We support all Health Care Heroes!
Alberta Doctors support our patients right to quality public education.

Evidence shows that patients involved in their healthcare decisions leads to better outcomes. Our paediatric patients need access to an effective and free education.

Alberta doctors recognize that we need the best research to support our patients. @UCalgary and @UAlberta were once known to produce amazing research and amazing doctors.

Cuts will hurt students + our skilled workforce.

Cuts will hurt our patients.
