What's the purpose of @jjhorgan's presser, other than lecturing us as usual.

His govt has prioritized the economy and profit over public health and lives.

And with no more restrictions we'll keep getting 500+ daily cases #s, more hospitalizations, more deaths.
#bcpoli #covid19
Zussman Global - childcare question, asking about reimbursing parents.

Horgan - "appreciates that proposal" - lol sure he does.
Zussman followup - says significant gaps in fed programs, asking about paying parents/workers to stay at home.

Horgan - "I want to fix that gap" - then why hasn't he?
Fletcher Blackpress - asking about "prudence" of relief payments going forward. - not sure what he's really asking here.

Horgan - says it's prudent. $ in people's pocket.
I guess he's asking about the $1000 relief payment.

Why didn't he just say so?
Fletcher followup - business relief fund asking about status update.

Horgan - Ravi is doing it. lol Call Ravi Tom.
lol - is always mine unless in quotes.
Q - BC ferry question, asking about threats of fines ($12000 fine which Horgan claims he isn't aware of)

Horgan - says he'd rather people stay in their car, says he talked to Trudeau, rules are for "safety", says trying to find a way to keep the exemptions.
HOrgan continues with the jurisdiction argument.

Binder (sp?) followup - askng about hiring 7000 healthcare workers re care homes.

Horgan - ask Minister Dix - then answers, "up to 1000" hired. More words, then ask Adrian, he has the #s. "challenge" lol
Liza News1130 - sick pay question, immediate sick pay, where is it?

Horgan - References the $1000 benefit that no one has got yet, "made that clear" with feds ???,

She's asking why your govt isn't doing anything on the paid sick leave front.
Liza followup - "national message" question re travel (note, I listened to her question 3 times now, still don't really understand it)

Horgan - "message has been there for some time" - don't travel if you don't have to.
Horgan - "critical dangerous time"

lol - then why are 500 000 business and 2000 schools that bring people together open?

hmmm?
Tanya CBC - asking how "concerning" are cases outside lowermainland (doubling very fast)

Another useless question on feelings. Who cares about his feelings?
Tanya CBC followup - asking about extending restrictions (what restrictions, everything is open) past Dec 7.

Horgan - "hopeful" says "relief" might come Monday.

Hope isn't an effective pandemic response.
Shannon Waters - sick leave question again (good, keep hammering away at it, why has Horgan sat on his hands?)

Horgan - "hasn't seen the data", will "look into it"

That's a deflection and only shows how Horgan has ignored the paid sick leave file.
Shannon followup - asking about legislative session priorities.

Horgan - $1 grand passed so families have $. No additional legislation.

Wow.
Andrew Tyee - access to information, improve FOI response times, not in mandate letters, why not?

Horgan - "good question" issues "still under way" as you know (lol), now making excuses "significant spike in requests".

Not answer the questions.
Andrew followup - asking about "made in BC" solution for decriminalizing drugs (DBH gave Horgan the blueprint, Horgan has ignored her advice, keeps asking Trudeau)

Horgan - ignores the made in BC solution, lots of words to say he's done nothign except ask Dad (feds) f/permission
Rob CTV - message to tourism struggling businesses?

Horgan - says $300 million available for grants, taskforce will do something (?)

NOt sure the question is adequately answered.
Rob followup - xmas question, asking about xmas "message" re restrictions.

Horgan - "not at that date yet", says "hope is on the horizon" re vaccines

Pretty clear Horgan's pandemic strategy is rag the puck till the vaccine comes in.
Last question Rob VanSun - asking why transit is split between 3 ministries.

Horgan - "good question", says "density" a few times, not sure what he's talking about.

I need a translator. How to translate political double-speak into English.
Rob followup - legislature speaker question

Horgan - "10 points Gryffindor" and a bunch of words.

I didn't really understand the question and I certainly don't understand the answer.
Looks like status quo, as cases and deaths keep spiking.

Disappointed but not surprised. Horgan has said from day 1 his priority is keeping the economy opened.

Some News1130 employees have a problem with public input, it seems.

Maybe a career in journalism isn't your thing.
The idea we should roll over and accept everything coming from the govt or heath authorities is anthesis to a functioning democracy, even in a pandemic.

Should we accept 800+ daily cases & double-digit daily deaths without question?

Shame on those in the media suggesting that.
Data transparency.

We lack occupational data for positive cases, no data on school cases other than a notification letter, no data at the city-level while other provinces drill down to the neighbourhood-level, no data on race or income level.

DBH saying "it's exciting news" the UK approved a vaccine, outside of Russia and China she added.
Canada's racism will prevent us from accessing Russia's vaccine.

Our risk of death has increased and by keeping the economy opened, ignoring health science, our increased risk of death is deliberate.

Govt is causing our increased risk of death. One could make a case for criminal negligence causing death. @CDCofBC @adriandix

Vietnam - a country of 95 million has only 35 #covid19 deaths.

BC - a province of only 5 million has 457 #covid19 deaths.

Vietnam values its residents lives. BC clearly doesn't. @CDCofBC

We need to close schools not give more $$ to school districts to keep schools open.

Parents are not sending their children to school because it's not safe.
#bced #bcpoli #covid19
Disappointed with the @BCGreens call here. Giving more $ to school districts might have made sense in March but not now.

It's too late to safely keep schools open. We need @SoniaFurstenau to call for schools to close.
All 3 parties seem united in fighting a virus with an economy. @BCGreens @bcndp @bcliberals

This is not a one-off for Global. Jill Krop has to resign in disgrace because of the racism at the outlet.

Global News Director Announces Resignation Following VICE News Investigation vice.com/en/article/3az… via @vice
Systemic racism, is a form of racism that is embedded as normal practice within society or an organization.

Racism is part of Global's business model. White leadership, white ownership, white perspective.
Global reporter's 1st tweet wasn't about METL's report documenting #SystemicRacism.

For him it was about the "game" and he couldn't even report that right.

No evidence of an "organized" game but anecdotal and episodic evidence of a game that "resembled" what was reported.
