🚨Great news! @US_FDA confirms that Moderna’s #coronavirus vaccine reduced the rate of #COVID19 by 94% in a study of 30,000 people. Side effects include fever, headache & fatigue–unpleasant but not dangerous. FDA intends to authorize its use on Friday!

Moderna’s vaccine worked equally well in whites & people of color with no significant differences btwn men & women, or btwn healthy people & those at high risk (obesity, diabetes) of severe #COVID19.

THIS IS EXCELLENT NEWS.😃

Distribution of ~6 million doses can begin next week. Moderna and Pfizer plan to deliver 200 million doses to the US in the 1st quarter of 2021. Both vaccines require 2 doses, so there should be enough doses for 100 million people.

Even better, both vaccines will be FREE!!👏🏼

Moderna requested authorization to vaccinate adults ≥18 yo (like in its study). The Pfizer vaccine was authorized for people ≥16 yo (its trial had younger people). Both companies are studying children as young as 12 and have plans to start studying even younger children.🙏🏼

Based upon all of the data that I have reviewed, I plan to get vaccinated with either of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, once available. I also plan to vaccinate our kids, as soon as they either turn 16 in March or FDA allows vaccination of 15 yo, whichever is sooner.

These vaccines are truly GAME CHANGERS in our battle against this deadly #coronavirus.

Sadly, even with the rollout of these effective vaccines, the next 3-4 months will be hell, because of Trump's TOTAL FAILURE to address the #pandemic.

Although the vaccines are proven to prevent #COVID19 illness, we don't yet have data on whether they prevent asymptomatic spread of the #coronavirus (they likely will!).
