THREAD for anyone afraid to open a Google Doc
drive.google.com/file/d/1Ty7pgR…

Over 35 respected scientific & public health organizations, and governments, around the world that have reviewed the evidence and issued public statements concluding e-cigarettes are safer than smoking.
2/8
None of these organizations have "industry influence." In fact, according to the @BloombergDotOrg-funded front group, @exposetobacco, the one country that makes the strongest public statements (the UK) is among the 4 least influenced by big tobacco.

It all starts to get pretty overwhelming no? And this is only 3 of 8. Thousands of experts have reviewed over 7,000 research studies on nicotine vapes ("e-cigarettes") and reached this conclusion: SAFER than smoking. Odd that @FCTCofficial continues to deny evidence.
4/8
...on to Scotland, and then New Zealand, and even the professional society for Aussie and NZ psychiatrists (professionals who actually care about the FACT that a very high proportion of people with mental illness smoke, and die from smoking).
5/8
...Nurses to deal with people-who-use-drugs get it too. The Royal Australian College of Physicians has a tepid endorsement. Then on to Germany and France.
6/8
...French National Academy of Pharmacy had some choice words for the @WHO. But it's just a Tweet, so doesn't really belong here.

...Now we move on to the USA where govt anti-vaping PSAs often contradict govt agencies' own official statements.
7/8
@American_Heart's "statement" is from a press release. Not an official statement. AAPHP physicians are at the coal face. They talk to patients. So they care.

...even @TobaccoFreeKids is here. Odd.

...then there's Canada. They're usually sensible. Except Nova Scotia.
8/8
One more from Canada.

Final note: In the original Google Doc, all these public statements are hyperlinked to the original on the organizations' own website.

This is a selected list. Other organizations disagree.

2 views. They can't both be right.

@AmericanCancer: CHANGE YOUR POSITION ON ECIGS

November 2019: Because "use of e-cigarettes in young people has since skyrocketed to epidemic proportion," ACS decided to stop telling smokers the truth ("less harmful than smoking cigarettes").

@AmericanCancer: CHANGE YOUR POSITION ON ECIGS

2019 position statement: "ACS does not recommend e-cigarettes as a cessation method."

But, “former smokers now using e-cigarettes should not revert to smoking.” So... still LESS HARMFUL THAN SMOKING.

@Megarittz @mihotep @TobaccoFreeKids @truthinitiative @BloombergDotOrg San Francisco banned 'flavors' in April 2019

RESULT: Young adult use of "flavored tobacco products" did not drop "sharply." E-cigarette and cigar use dropped a bit. And cigarette smoking increased.
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…
@Megarittz @mihotep @TobaccoFreeKids @truthinitiative @BloombergDotOrg JUUL funded external researchers to look at the impact of e-cigarette bans. The total ban in MA caused cigarette sales to increase dramatically. Flavor bans in Rhode Island and Washington state caused cigarette sales to increase about 5%.

I'm sharing these 10 online surveys with permission. Assume they may be biased because we, in the #VapeFam, self-select in (we had positive experiences switched from smoking to nicotine vapes). Still very interesting!
93% of nicotine vapers say their health has improved.
90% of nicotine vapers say they have fewer and less severe lung infections (consistent with peer-reviewed research).
