Another case of highly pathogenic bird flu in poultry was reported by South Korea on Tuesday, bringing the total caseload to 67.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs, the latest case of the H5N8 strain of avian influenza came from an egg farm in Yongin, just south of Seoul.
On all poultry farms within a 10-kilometer radius of the affected farm, the ministry will conduct screening tests and enforce a 30-day movement ban. The restriction also extends for a seven-day duration to all poultry farms in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
The authorities are already investigating the next suspected infection in Eumseong, North Chungcheong Province. Since late November, the number of birds culled here topped 18.8 million as of Tuesday,
including 15.3 million chickens. In a 3-kilometer radius of contaminated farms, South Korea culls all poultry.
