🚨SEDITION: Trump plotted with Jeffrey Clark—acting head of DOJ’s civil division—to oust & replace Acting AG Rosen & wield DOJ’s power to force #Georgia lawmakers to overturn its election results.
Their resignation pact helped persuade Trump to keep AG Rosen—calculating that a furor over mass resignations at the top of DOJ would eclipse attention on his baseless accusations of voter “fraud.”
IMPEACH TRUMP AGAIN and PROSECUTE HIM CRIMINALLY for #sedition.🤬
😱Trump’s decision not to oust Rosen came only after Rosen and Clark made competing cases to Trump in a bizarre WH meeting that 2 officials compared with an episode of Trump’s reality show “The Apprentice.”
The day after Bill Barr announced his resignation, Trump summoned Rosen to the WH and pushed Rosen to file legal briefs supporting baseless lawsuits to overturn his election loss & urged Rosen to appoint special counsels to probe false claims of voter fraud & Dominion.🙄
🔥Rosen refused Trump’s ILLEGAL request and maintained that he would make decisions based on the facts and the law, and reiterated what Barr had privately told Trump: DOJ had investigated voting irregularities and found *no evidence of widespread fraud*.💥
Even AFTER Rosen slapped down Trump’s baseless conspiracy theories, Trump continued to press Rosen after the meeting—in phone calls and in person—claiming that DON was not fighting hard enough for him.
😱 In December, #Seditionist Clark mentioned to Rosen and Deputy AG Donoghue that he spent a lot of time reading on the internet—a comment that alarmed them because they believed that he believed the unfounded conspiracy theory that Trump had “won” the election.
‼️#Seditionist Clark also told Rosen and Donoghue that he wanted DOJ to hold a news conference announcing that it was investigating “serious accusations of election fraud.”
Rosen and Donoghue rejected his INSANE proposal.
Clark and Trump conspired to OVERTHROW THE ELECTION.🤬
Trump focused increasingly on #Georgia—where he narrowly lost—complaining to DOJ leaders that the US attorney in Atlanta, Byung Pak, was not trying to find “evidenc for FALSE election claims pushed by Rudy Giuliani and others.🙄
‼️#Seditionist Clark was also focused on #Georgia & drafted a letter he asked Rosen to send to Georgia legislators that falsely said that DOJ was investigating voter “fraud,” and they should move to void Biden’s win.
Rosen and Donoghue again REFUSED to conspire in #sedition.
On 12/31, Clark, Rosen & Donoghue met to discuss Clark’s refusal to accept the election results.
Donoghue told Clark what he was doing was WRONG. The next day, Clark told Rosen he was going to discuss his strategy w/Trump, just before Congress was set to certify Biden’s victory.
😱Unbeknown to acting AG Rosen, Clark’s timeline moved up—he met w/Trump that weekend, then informed Rosen midday on Sunday that Trump intended to replace him with Clark, who could then try to stop Congress from certifying the Electoral College results.
Rosen was reportedly “speechless,” but refused to step down without a fight.
Rosen said he needed to hear straight from Trump and worked with the WH counsel, Pat Cipollone, to convene a meeting with Trump that evening.👀
During #Seditionist Clark’s maneuvering, news broke that #Georgia State officials had recorded an hourlong call, in which Trump pressured them to manufacture enough votes to declare him the victor.
MASSIVE fallout from Trump’s #Sedition ricocheted through DC.😎
🔥Rosen and Donoghue informed Steven Engel—head of DOJ’s office of legal counsel—about Clark’s seditious maneuver.
Donoghue convened a late-afternoon call with DOJ’s senior leaders, laying out Clark’s efforts to oust Rosen.
ALL agreed to resign en masse, should Rosen be fired💥
Clark’s seditious plot is a throwback to Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre, when AG Elliot Richardson & his deputy resigned (Bork did NOT) rather than carry out Nixon’s order to fire the special prosecutor investigating him.🧐
That Sunday, Rosen, Donoghue, Engel & Clark met with Trump, Cipollone & other lawyers.
Cipollone advised Trump not to fire Rosen & advised not sending Clark’s letter to Georgia lawmakers.
Engel advised Trump that he & DOJ’s top officials would resign if he fired Rosen.💥
After 3 hours, Trump was finally swayed that firing Rosen would trigger chaos at DOJ, congressional investigations & recriminations from other @GOP, distracting from his efforts to overturn the election.
Trump ultimately decided Clark would fail & he allowed Rosen to stay.🙄
🚨This is a DAMNING portrait of yet another example of Trump’s #sedition.
The @HouseDemocrats and @SenateDems need to call these DOJ officials to testify PUBLICLY about Trump’s efforts to OVERTHROW our election.
🚨SEDITION: after top DOJ officials threatened to quit in protest of Trump’s plot to oust Acting AG Rosen, Trump pushed @TheJusticeDept to ask the SCOTUS to invalidate @POTUS Biden’s victory.
Yet another attempt by Trump to overturn the election.🤬
Trump pressured DOJ to file a baseless lawsuit in SCOTUS—top DOJ officials, including Bill Barr, refused.
Trump also plotted with Jeffrey Clark—acting head of DOJ’s civil division—to replace Acting AG Barr and use DOJ’s power to push #Georgia to overturn the election results.🤬
Former Trump admin official: “He wanted us to sue 1 or more of the states directly in the SCOTUS. The pressure got really intense” after SCOTUS dismissed #Texas’ lawsuit. Trump’s lawyer drafted a brief Trump wanted DOJ to file, but officials refused.💥
🔥Dozens of influential @GOP in DC—including former top Trump administration officials—have been quietly lobbying GOP members of Congress to impeach and #ConvictTrump.
Another hurdle: Until this week, there was no nationwide system to tell people where they could get the drugs that take hours to administer via IV infusions. Finding space to separate #coronavirus-infected patients from others is difficult in some centers slammed by the pandemic.
Now, all states must list sites on a federal locator map that have received the #coronavirus monoclonal antibody drugs. The map shows wide distribution, but doesn’t guarantee availability or access; #COVID19 patients still need to check.👇🏼
🚨BREAKING: Great news! Study shows Pfizer’s #COVID19 vaccine likely just as effective against the highly transmissible B.1.1.7 #coronavirus variant—1st found in the UK.
The study found that ALL mutations in the B.1.1.7 #coronavirus variant were neutralized by antibodies in the blood of 16 people who previously got Pfizer’s #COVID19 vaccine. Half were aged btwn 18 and 55—the other half were aged between 56 and 85.
Initial tests had shown Pfizer’s #COVID19 vaccine was effective against ONE key mutation in the more contagious #coronavirus variants from the UK and South Africa. This new study shows the vaccine likely to be effective against ALL mutations in B.1.1.7.😃
🚨An @FBI intelligence report warns that “QAnon members have discussed posing as National Guard soldiers, and others have reviewed maps of vulnerable spots in the city — signs of potential efforts to disrupt Wednesday’s #inauguration.
Both “lone wolves” and QAnon #terrorists—some of whom joined in the Capitol siege—have indicated they plan to go to DC for @JoeBiden’s #Inauguration.
The FBI also observed them downloading & sharing MAPS of sensitive sites in DC & discussing how they could interfere in security
‼️FBI: “QAnon members have discussed posing as National Guard soldiers, believing that it would be easy for them to infiltrate secure areas,” adding that the #Seditionists have been **crowdsourcing images to surveil the security perimeter**.
A pro-Trump nonprofit group— Women for America First—hosted the 1/6 “Save America Rally,” but the public gathering permit lists >6 people as staff who were paid by Trump’s campaign. Other staff scheduled to be “on site” during the rally have close ties to the WH.🤬
📌At least 1 was working for the Trump campaign THIS MONTH. Megan Powers was listed as 1 of 2 operations managers for the 1/6 rally—her LinkedIn profile says she was the Trump campaign’s director of operations into January 2021.
