1,931 people in hospital with COVID.

218 in ICU.
A warning against complacency from Tony Holohan.

“While we are starting to make progress in reducing the level of the virus in the community, this is a critical time for all of us to hold firm to the public health advice."
"We must not let down our guard against this highly infectious disease and the risk it poses to ourselves and those most medically vulnerable to infection."
⚠️ "There is a huge volume of disease in the country and the recent surge in cases continues to place an unprecedented strain on ICUs, hospitals and other frontline healthcare services. The answer lies in driving down social contacts and congregation in all settings."
ℹ️ Holohan: "We urge all employers to facilitate home working as much as possible" Image

Cabinet Sub-Committee meets today.

🛬 Restrictions for international arrivals on the agenda (full-on mandatory quarantine for all is not expected at this point.)

🏫 Schools also likely to be discussed - after Taoiseach said full return to classrooms before March 17 unlikely.
As Minister Eamon Ryan is saying on the radio: immediate focus for mandatory quarantine here is...

(1) Quarantine for people without 'Not Detected' PCR test.

(2) Quarantine for people coming from Covid variant hotspots (eg South Africa and Brazil)
"Much stricter sanctions on 5km restriction" is on the agenda says Eamon Ryan.

"Increased surveillance" needed.

Antigen testing on the way for Irish hauliers heading for France too.
