1/. A month ago, asked why - after 10 months - there aren’t checks at airports, @BorisJohnson faltered:

“We will be bringing in measures to ensure that we test people coming into this country & prevent the virus being re-admitted.”

We are still waiting.
2/. Asked about the lack of airport checks on 9 March, @OliverDowden got things wrong telling @rachelburden "anyone of concern is tracked" & @KayBurley that cabin crew had "had enhanced training" to spot #COVID19

On 14/7/20, @piersmorgan asked him again!
3/. The advice was very clear in February/early March that flights from #COVID19 hotspots, like northern Italy, would speed the arrival & spread of #coronavirus in the UK

Not only was this advice ignored, but was the Minister of Transport gaslighting us?
4/. Asked why the govt didn't introduce a quarantine on people arriving in UK earlier, Prof Van Tam says:

“My recollection is we did do it before. On the 29 of February & then on the 30 of February...”

This is incorrect & 30 February doesn't even exist!
5/. In March, @grantshapps said airport checks “are not going to help us fight this thing”

Last month, when asked by @TVNaga01 why we hadn’t been testing flight arrivals he said:

“I did say at the start, shall we close the borders & Chris Whitty said no”
6/. Asked about lack of checks at airports & not closing air corridors to stop Brazilian & South African variants, Victoria Aitkins said:

“Travel measures take a little bit of time. There’s a delicate balancing act btw controlling the virus & the economy”
7/. On 14 Jan, @YvetteCooperMP asked the PM what the govt are doing to stop S.African variant spreading in the UK & why people could travel from SA to UK for last 4 weeks without being tested & allowed to go on public transport.

@BorisJohnson didn’t know!
8/. You may have @nadhimzahawi talking about a govt plan for airport checks today.

When asked about airport testing in September by @KayBurley, he replied:

“When it's ready, it's something we'll absolutely look at."
9/. Today, a new study shows that intn’l travel is one of the main drivers of #COVID19 deaths.

@bbcnickrobinson asked where’s the plan for airports the PM said would be presented today?

@nadhimzahawi replied it will be presented “in the next few days”.
10/. Almost a year on & still no quarantine hotels, airport tests, travel restrictions on UK arrivals

Like many of the govt's #COVID19 policies, it just doesn't make sense...or does it?

1/. Exactly one year ago - on 3 February 2020 - @BorisJohnson made THIS speech:

“There’s a risk new diseases such as #coronavirus could trigger a panic that goes beyond what is medically rational, to the point of doing real & unnecessary economic damage.”
2/. The PM's #GreenwichSpeech was the first time he’d mentioned #COVID19 publicly & it’s clear that the govt already had a plan

“Medically irrational responses” causing "real & unnecessary economic damage” = LOCKDOWN

The Govt’s strategy = #HERDIMMUNITY!
3/. Whilst this was the first time that the PM mentioned #COVID19 publicly, he’d known about it “right at the start” of Jan.

@MattHancock warned him & recalls his surprise that MPs weren’t aware of “the single biggest issue that's about to come & hit us”.

Ten weeks ago, Sage warned No.10 about mutant #COVID19 strai

Three weeks ago, @YvetteCooperMP asked @BorisJohnson what the UK was doing to stop the #SouthAfricanVariant

The PM didn’t have an answer

We need answers from the secretive #JointBiosecurityCentre
On 21 Sept, SAGE warned UK faced a “very large epidemic with catastrophic consequences” without immediate action

But PM & @RishiSunak weren’t at that meeting

Instead, they were meeting anti-lockdown scientists Anders Tegnell, Prof Heneghan & Prof Gupta! dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8…
In December, the PM was asked why the country wasn’t in lockdown

“The Tier decisions aren’t for me,” Patrick Vallance replied

In a system seemingly designed to ensure the buck stops with no one, decisions are made by the secretive #JointBiosecurityCentre

1/. On the fourth anniversary of the Memorandum of Understanding on Migration btw Italy & Libya, @amnestyitalia accuse the
Italian authorities of complicity in the abuse, rape & torture of migrants & refugees in Libyan detention centres.
@FilippoGrandi
2/. Under the deal, Italy helps the Libyan Coastguard to stop boats & return people to detention centres in Libya

It defies comprehension that, despite the evidence of suffering inflicted as a direct result of this deal & despite the conflict in Libya, Italy renewed it in 2020.
3/. The strategy of outsourcing of border control to Libya focuses on keeping people out of Europe

But #Libya doesn't have the capacity to coordinate rescues & people rescued at sea cannot legally be taken there due to the human rights situation

1/. On 3 February 2020, @BorisJohnson made the #GreenwichSpeech

Me, @peterjukes & @BylineTimes broke this story on 16 April

This clip👇was viewed 1.3m x

Peter’s analysis where he calls it “is a smoking gun of the #HerdImmunityScandal” had 1.2m views

But it was ignored by MSM.
2/. Referring to #COVID19 publicly FOR THE FIRST TIME, the PM said:

“There’s a risk that new diseases such as #coronavirus will trigger a panic & a desire for market segregation that go beyond what is medically rational to the point of doing real & unnecessary economic damage.”
3/. For months, I tried to flag this vital clue to journalists

The speech offers a vital clue as to the otherwise incomprehensible decisions - delaying lockdown etc. etc.

In June, a @C4Dispatches exposé in included the #GreenwichSpeech, but no other media seemed interested.
