This man who is part of a national media network has published a wrong map of India as per Indian law. It shows parts of Ladakh which were ceded by Pakistan to China and around Siachen as "not part" of India.

Will the government punish him? #Curious
For those who are not sure of which place I am talking about
What does the law say?

A Kutty (Short) Story with Satellite Images about a hamlet near Tirunelveli, #TamilNadu

In 2003, the hamlet can be seen (marked in orange). It is next to Tirunelveli - Madurai railway line. There's a crossing (marked in black) through which people went to the nearby main road Image
Around 2018, Railways decided to build an underpass for this village so that they can double track this corridor. Concrete boxes can be seen in the image Image

#Thread: Map preparation is an easy job but meaningfull interpretation of spatial data & analysis behind maps is NOT. It requires good understanding of data & their representation of ground reality

Snapshot of misleading/fake correlation that has been circulating

The fake/misleading correlation implies that the missing people data locations in US correlates with location of Caves in US (indicating that they went missing in caves)

Map in top claims to be missing people location
Bottom Map is cave location

Discussing why its not real

The original version of the map (in top) is not representing all missing people in US but infact a rough representation of people gone missing in National parks, remote areas alone (where caves are there anyway) i.e no data from cities or other rural places

#Map shows the places in India which have "Thiru" in their name. Thiru is a honorific prefix (primarily used in Tamil)

ex: Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati

Disclaimer: May not be complete. Simple string search done on @osm_in data
Eelam/Lanka names like Trincomalee not shown Image
Similar #Map for places named as "#Gaon"

(or containing the string "gaon" in their name)

FYI: Tirupati Sarjan Ltd has built some townships etc in Ahmedabad which have the names "Tirupati" in them and hence those dots..
