Staying healthy before & during pregnancy is ๐ to preventing #BirthDefects, incl.:

โ Protection from infections like Zika, syphilis, rubella
To help prevent certain #BirthDefects, all women should take a folic acid supplement (400 ยตg/day) from the moment they begin trying to conceive until 12 weeks of pregnancy.
To prevent and detect #BirthDefects, WHO recommends antenatal care that includes a minimum of 8 contacts with health professionals throughout pregnancy to identify and manage risks.
#Rubella infection early in pregnancy can lead to congenital rubella syndrome โ a condition that includes severe #BirthDefects and lifelong disability:

The agreement makes use of the multi-partner Humanitarian Mechanism, launched in 2017.
Rotavirus vaccine is the second vaccine to be accessed through the scheme. The first to be made available was the pneumococcal vaccine.
Rotavirus is the most common cause of severe diarrhoeal disease in children under 5 years globally, responsible for up to 200,000 child deaths each year.
