It's 756 years since the first Parliament of what's now the UK sat

Just one thing survives from then.

As a member of the Executive, to lie deliberately to or mislead the House requires immediate resignation.

So. Mr Johnson?

You seem to have done both.

goodlawproject.org/update/johnson…
Maybe you're a fan of Johnson?
You want to forgive it as minor?
A small white lie from a man everyone knows "exaggerates".

As you build these excuses consider for a moment that if there is no requirement for truth to be told to Parliament, then there is no Democracy.
Mr Johnson is not campaigning in Parliament, he's in power.

When campaigning, under English law, he can say or promise almost anything without sanction (look it up)

That stops at the Dispatch Box

He may exaggerate or promise. But to deceive deliberately brings down Democracy.
Imagine Neville Chamberlain could have come back from Germany waiving a fabricated deal with Hitler instead of merely a naive one?

What if Blair had been allowed to claim, without sanction, that he argued against Bush and fought against the Iraq approach?
Many Johnson fans hate Major because of what he negotiated at Maastrict.

What if Major could have swept concerns aside and told pork pies about his deal?

Until it was signed, sealed and unchangeable?

You say that's what happened?
OK, Imagine Major with no backbench scrutiny.
Many voted to take back control of Parliament.

We should probably hesitate before giving it away to someone prepared to deceive to avoid our last checks and balances.

After all, it'd be super embarrassing to find ourselves responsible for an Enabling Act. Image
Ah. I'm exaggerating you say?

There's no precedence for that.

We'd never blindly waive through legislation with massive holes that would come back to haunt us

Certainly not on truly important once in a century stuff.

Except for twice. In just a year⏬

I missed this staggering and articulate indictment from @bmj on the negligence of Johnson, Trump and other "Populists" during the #Covid19 #pandemic .

RT in full. Link at end. Everything we've said and more. A must read.

Thank you kabbasi@bmj.com
After two million deaths, we must have redress for mishandling the pandemic

Murder is an emotive word. In law, it requires premeditation. Death must be deemed to be unlawful. How could “murder” apply to failures of a pandemic response? 1/
Perhaps it can’t, and never will, but it is worth considering. 2/

Inconvenient #NHS facts

The 1% pay rise is "all we can afford" because the BJ is paying £513m extra already for training & recruitment

We're paying £513 extra because of the cost of the BJ's badly thought through immigration exceptions.

And two more factors he also controls...
1. Yes NHS Visa charges are back. Remember your outrage last year? From Jan 1st, in addition to an onerous immigration system, they quietly ALSO started to charge nurses to work here.

2. Then why so many more staff? Well we can't blame the BJ for #COVID19 in general...
But 80,000 EXTRA died: his PPE, border controls, (lack of) testing. July beaches.

BJ didn't cause Covid, he just made it far worse at huge cost of life

More NHS staff costs to correct his mistakes.

Odd, because war powers were added "avoid mistakes"⏬

Just one more thing...

When Jacob Rees Mogg threw dead fish into the Thames at WETminster, I thought, like most of you, he was making a point on behalf of the Fishing INDUSTRY.

It was only yesterday that we all learned he was acting on behalf of the FISH.

Fish happiness, not Brexit, was the goal!
In the year before #Brexit started -
(note: Brexit was not done, it's just begun)
- I worried about those most impacted.

My logic was while those wishing to remain would be most disappointed, they would also be most prepared.

#BrexitDeal would hurt its supporters.
Starting ☝️
Two reasons were anticipated.

1. Famously the economic consequences would hurt Leave voters the most (albeit no one expected the madness of combining #Brexit with #Covid19)

2. Sovereignty and independence would be reversed; we'd end up with less of both (as we have).

Number 3?

Admirable Team Johnson NOW acts re' viruses at our borders.

But that makes THEN a mystery⏬ .

The thread has 14 examples of no #Covid19 border safety
TLDR:

* anti checking PR
* 000s Italy passengers unloaded
* lies about WHO advice
* useless quarantine
* no reporting
* ⏫☠💷
If Goebells occasionally clouded the truth:
* Grant Shapps has been murky,
* Priti Patel opaque.

On the record xxx times Shapps quoted WHO to justify no checks or flight restrictions.

⚠️ He used half the letter
⚠️ The whole letter said the opposite

Shapps ideological removal of UK from European Air Safety Guidance in March was reckless given #Covid19 impact on Travel Industry (we still have no replacement).

For Human life it was catastrophic.

UK was the only major country in the world to welcome #Covid19 at our borders

When did a force for good last win enough for a little cheer 🍻🥂?

🤔😪a while

Cheer up. You missed one 🌊
In the US. We all did.
😲😏

Implications for the UK?
🤔🙂😃

Press owners, corrupt editors, bent politicians can be beaten?
😂🤣😅

If they don't kill us first!
😲😳🥺
The victory of CNN over Fox News is Tectonic, like a super nova is the warm embers of a fire.

Impossible
Couldn't happen
Big Bang Event

In the UK we know CNN from their brand not success.

Stateside they WERE dead.

Fox didn't see it coming.
But CNN were even more surprised. Image
Most Brits regard Fox News as nasty, dangerous or both. Few of us know it HAS 2x share of its rivals CNN & MSNBC

HAD

Everything changed.
CNN is now larger..

Interesting but a UK link pls?

OK, Our Press is EVEN more biased.
Can we learn how this happened?
Apply it?
YES! Image

If it's normal to be incompetent, then slowly it's acceptable, then expected => HMG & #Covid19

SLOWLY

Cabinet is negligent. Deaths, costs, health failures, purchasing: All worse than they should be

Prediction: Minimum 80% of final deaths and cost due Cabinet.

Evidence? ⏬ Image
Remember #Johnson spent the first half of this Pandemic calling it unprecedented when it wasn't. Now that's old HIS new variant is THE new variant is...unprecedented.

Threads, starting in May to show it is PRECIDENTED

Time to read? More examples⏬
Airport checks?
Don't exist. We were told to put them in, in March.
We have a lousy lazy quarantine - Ms Patel never reports on it.

No country is this lazy

But to raise blood pressure, 80% of deaths and costs in wave 1? This factor alone.
