6) How bad is #B117 surging in Texas? This bad... just hit 36% of #COVID19 cases tested. It spiked up so fast that the 5 day average still lagging behind. Texas is now the 4th highest behind Florida, CA, GA in total #B117.

7) #P1 is faster moving than #P2 or other variants. Two 🇧🇷 research groups have put it at 2x to 2.5x more contagious than old common strains. If that is confirmed (waiting for more details), that would be a Pandemic 2.0. But I’m waiting another half day before sharing the 2.5x.

8) We need to vaccinate. Vaccines will still work for #B117, and still mostly work for other variants I expect. But vaccination pace are lagging in Texas and Mississippi compared to other states.

9) I’m most worried for Florida. Case drop has stopped and have flattened (but rising in Miami Dade area this week). I predict cases may soon rise quickly once #B117 surpasses 60% (when Denmark 🇩🇰 also saw its fortunes change).

10) I’m happy to return to sharing puppy videos later, but now is not the time to relax. Cases have stopped declining in many places and flattened or increasing again last 3 weeks. It’s not over. next wave is matter of not “if” but WHEN. April/May. Vaccinate, mask, & ventilate.

11) And for those who think cases don’t equal hospitalizations... well the bad news is that #B117 increases hospitalization risk by 64%! And the data is from Denmark with the best sequencing and one of the best health systems in the world.

New: CDC recommendations:

📌Fully vaccinated people can gather together indoors.

📌If grandparents have been vaccinated, they can visit family if they haven’t been vaccinated only if so long as they’re not at risk for severe disease. #COVID19

2) To be clear—vaccinated people can only meet unvaccinated **low risk** people from only 1 family household without masks or distancing.

➡️Don’t try 2nd family household (don’t criss cross bubbles)

➡️Don’t do any unvaccinated family if they are not low risk.

2) UK 🇬🇧 was sooooo close to #ZeroCovid - just a few weeks more - but all of that is put into jeopardy by lies by the govt and many of its advisors that misleadingly claim kids don’t/barely transmit. Schools can be safe—but only with airborne precautions and ventilation.

2) The crisis that looms for Brazil 🇧🇷 is almost indescribable. Many doctors in Brazil are screaming the word “genocide” at the level of neglect and willful efforts to block anything that will stop the pandemic.

“Dear Eric:
I’m a professor at University of XXX, in Brazil. I’m writing privately because academics are being chased here. It’s not a matter of poor leadership but of an ongoing extermination project.”
