Not sure if wise—German 🇩🇪 Health Minister and 16 state health ministers on Tuesday decided to suspend the routine use of the AstraZeneca #COVID19 vaccine for people agr <60 at an emergency meeting. But allowed <60 under discretion of personal doctors. 🧵

2) I’m head scratching — if this uncertain clotting thing is real, then why didn’t UK or India (one of the largest maker and user of it) find it in their country? UK has top notch epidemiologists. It’s the same vaccine after all, unless it’s a batch issue?
3) If it’s a batch issue, then that should be able to be traced. But I haven’t seen data it’s a batch issue yet either.

Bold claims needs replication. And this clot thing needs to be replicated in UK and other countries besides 🇩🇪 that uses AstraZeneca. Canada should check too.
4) Like they did a study in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 among 440,000 people vaccinated there— no blood clot issue. Welch people are not really different from Germans genetically. This is why I’m doubtful the German’s clotting cases is a real effect of the vaccine. bbc.com/news/uk-wales-…
5) apparently, I’m told people from Wales are Welsh, not Welch like the fruit juice company. My apologies to the people of 🐳.

This is unfortunate—a Baltimore manufacturer two #COVID19 vaccines accidentally conflated ingredients several weeks ago, ruining about 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine and forcing regulators to delay authorization of production lines.

2) “The mixup has halted future shipments of Johnson & Johnson doses in the United States while the Food and Drug Administration investigates. Johnson & Johnson has moved to strengthen its control over Emergent BioSolutions’ work to avoid further quality lapses.
3) “The mistake is a major embarrassment for Johnson & Johnson, whose one-dose vaccine has been credited with speeding up the national immunization program.
It does not affect Johnson & Johnson doses that are currently being delivered and used nationwide.
