The @marqaatiSomalia project was founded by a notorious Canadian by the name of James Dahl. But Mohamed Mubarak @somalianalyst fronts as it’s founder. Even the website was registered to James Dahl.

James Dahl is famous for the website Abtirsi. The website founded at a time when westerns were trying to understand Somalia and its intricate clan & subclan structures.

To date, the website is the single largest collection of the Somali clan & sub-clan trees. To call James Dahl shady is an understatement. abtirsi.com/list.php

It is highly likely that Marqaati is owned by the same groups behind SomaliaReport, or similar dubious entities. For example, Marqaati still follows SomaliaReport, a project that’s been out of circulation for almost a decade.

There’s an entire cottage-industry of phony security experts in Somalia run by dubious characters. I guess one has to do whatever it takes to eat in Somalia. But people should be careful about these dubious characters.
