To help combat antimicrobial resistance, Dr Al-Maani engaged in the national project “Be Role Model for Hand Hygiene” as part of her advocacy work for #HandHygiene in the community and health care settings in #Oman 🇴🇲
🏆 The 2021 Sasakawa Prize goes to Dr Wu Hao from Fangzhuang Community Health Service Centre in #China 🇨🇳.
Dr Wu has devoted his career to improving community health & integrating the use of technology to ensure more people can access care close to home.
Dr Wu Hao pioneered an intelligent family physician-optimized collaborative concept (IFOCM). This enables doctors to
✅ remotely assess & monitor patients
✅ ensure 24-hour customized care
✅ refer patients to specialist care when needed
and many more.
During #COVID19, Dr Wu Hao’s centre established epidemic prevention & control teams and opened a 24-service hotline and @WeChatApp official account, allowing patients to consult their family doctors for free.
Dr Wu Hao & his team train nearly 5000 family physicians a year, helping address the shortage of doctors in community healthcare.
He also works to ensure equal access to primary health care, especially for those living in poor areas in #China 🇨🇳.
At #WHA74, the National Research Center for Radiation Medicine of #Ukraine 🇺🇦 has been awarded the Dr Lee-Jong Wook memorial prize for public health, for conducting 30 years of research on the impacts of radioactivity ☢️ on health following the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
The National Research Center for Radiation Medicine of #Ukraine 🇺🇦 has worked closely with WHO. It became a WHO Collaborating Centre for the Organization’s Radiation Emergency Medical Preparedness and Assistance Network in 1998.
Research conducted by the National Research Center for Radiation Medicine of #Ukraine 🇺🇦 has helped mitigate the impact of the Chernobyl disaster. The institute provided invaluable expertise and lessons of Chernobyl with the global expert community.

The 74th World Health Assembly approved the WHO resolution on global disability action plan 2014–2021 for better health for all people with #disability.
The #WHA74 is expected to adopt this resolution on plenary next week.
Over 1 billion people currently live with some form of #disability. This number is rising as populations expand and age, and due to the increasing number of people living with noncommunicable conditions. #WHA74
