The Anti Muslim riot lasted over a week since 28th december 1971 was the infamous Thalassery rebellion. The judicial commission assigned to inquire about it during the C. Achutha Menon reign was the Justice Vithayathil commission, that clearly specifies thr role of RSS in it. 
The commission also eulogised then MLA, Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan whom had intervened in order to curb that mishap. The report says; for centuries, there existed communal harmony between Hindus and Muslims in Thalassery. That fraternity was undermined as soon as RSS & Janasangh
began their activities therein. Their Anti Muslim propaganda became instrumental in parading Muslims in their community - based organisation, viz, IUML. This led to the inevitable incident. It was evaluated as the very first community - faced rebellion post independence. Then
Home Minister, Mr. K. Karunakaran sent Mr. Ajit Dovel, who was the ASP to oppress the unrest. RSS was held responsible for creating animosity between Hindus & Muslims, also Jana sangh was did the same. Officially, there was no link between RSS and sangh?, still RSS was regarded
the militarised off shoot of Jana sangh, while jana sangh, the political wing of RSS. People of Thalassery know who is Pinarayi Vijayan and CPIM.....
