I've asked you about the best ways you know to market your game. Here are your answers:
#indiedev #indiegame #indiegames #IndieGameDev #gamedev #gamedevs #GameDeveloper #gamedevelopment #videogame #videogames #gamers #gaming #indiegaming
Leading Answer: Build a community organically. You can do this by doing two things

First off, stay active and consistent in posting progress about your project. Gifs and Videos are best. Post even if you feel like you have nothing to show
Secondly, engage with other creators - help them when possible, be social, try to grow THEIR project. What goes around comes around

The following are good platforms to market your project on

Great for talking to other devs and building awareness about your project.

Making use of trends is a great way to build a community.

Some great hashtags are:
#screenshotsaturday, #wishlistwednesday and #followfriday

Good for reaching gamers and fans. Good subs to post on:

Any subs relating to the engine you use to develop your game (e.g. /r/unity)

An original choice for marketing software, but great in terms of virality. Check out this article:

Other Platforms:

Being original in your approach can pay off. Here are some less well-known platforms you can use to market your game

- Newgrounds
- Imgur

One of the best ways to market your project is to have streamers review it.
Influencers are always looking for new, small titles to play. Make sure your game looks like it "plays" well on stream.
@Civvie11 seems to be one of the first to play the new, fresh titles
@Civvie11 Publications:

Similarly to taking to streamers, writing to publications can be a great way to get your game in front of many eyes at once.

Note: Once a publication writes about you, it seems that others will follow the lead. This can lead to a domino effect of attention
@Civvie11 Ads:

No way around it. Ads have to be mentioned in any marketing talk. Some good platforms for paid ads are:

- Google Ads
- Reddit
- Snapchat
@Civvie11 Other ideas:

If you have the budget, hire a social media manager

Make a trailer of your game. This sells your idea much better than a devlog

Make a music video of one of your OSTs
@Civvie11 Thank you everyone for sharing your ideas!

This was hugely helpful for me, and I'm sure many others
