News that the UCP are pursuing deep wage cuts for frontline healthcare workers just as Alberta is starting to climb out of this pandemic shows a dramatic and galling disrespect for the care they have provided Albertans.
These workers have changed sheets, served meals and cleaned hospital rooms, all while risking their own exposure to COVID-19.
"Frontline healthcare workers have guided Alberta through a dramatic global pandemic for the past 15 months. They have saved lives and provided exceptional care each and every day." - @DShepYEG

"I encourage every Albertan who has a UCP MLA to reach out to them and tell them to support this bill.”
- @RachelNotley
The Eastern Slopes Protection would permanently ban coal mining and exploration activity in category 1 and 2 lands, and halt all mining and exploration activity in category 3 and 4 lands pending the outcome of a regional planning process.
Jason Kenney’s vaccine lottery prizes now include free access to enjoy and explore Kananaskis Country, an area that used to be free to access before the UCP formed government.
In a news release Wednesday, the Government of Alberta added 10 free $90 Kananaskis Conservation Passes to a second vaccine lottery prize pool, requiring Albertans to re-submit their entry.
Environment Minister Jason Nixon only introduced the pass a few weeks ago, and it came into effect June 1.
The UCP’s poorly named “Jobs Now” program—delayed for more than five months—requires applicants to have operated their businesses for more than a year.
This eligibility criteria means new entrepreneurs who stand the most to gain from hiring new staff do not qualify for any support funding to expand and create jobs.
All 24 Alberta NDP MLAs have now received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and continue to call for a blanket endorsement of the safety and effectiveness of these shots from all 87 Members of the Legislative Assembly.
In a Jan. 27 letter to Premier Jason Kenney, NDP Leader Rachel Notley confirmed all members of her Caucus intended to receive their vaccines and promote them to their constituents. She also encouraged all members of the United Conservative Caucus to do the same.
Media reports in recent days indicate 19 UCP MLAs have refused to confirm whether they will be vaccinated, including Agriculture Minister Devin Dreeshen.
The number of Albertans dying of a toxic drug overdose has skyrocketed throughout 2020, while Premier Jason Kenney has removed several services proven to save lives.
"I’m truly heartbroken to see how many Alberta families will be grieving a loved one this Christmas, and I’m angry that Jason Kenney has taken away services that could have meant the difference for them."

We have seen throughout the COVID-19 pandemic that Jason Kenney puts his personal ideology ahead of professional public health advice. He has taken the same approach to the toxic overdose crisis, and it’s led to unnecessary deaths.
Today Dr. Hinshaw said AHS & the Canadian Red Cross are setting up a field hospital in Edmonton despite repeated claims from Premier Kenney & his cabinet ministers that field hospitals were only a contingency plan for “a potential extreme scenario."
“AHS is also working with the Canadian Red Cross to set up an alternate care centre at the Butterdome on the University of Alberta’s campus,” Hinshaw said during her daily briefing.
“Once again, Jason Kenney has been caught withholding the truth from Albertans.”
