TBH I think the pearl-clutching about who makes the decisions on how the Queen spends her time (hint: the Queen) has more to do with resistance toward my future King, Charles III.
I'm loyal to her, and she approves of him.
End of story.
My opinion of the future King Charles III has ebbed and flowed in the years since I first knew of his existence. That was in about 1977, when he was 31.
He has been taking on more responsibility in the palace machine for a good 20 years or so. I think he's going to do well.
The Queen will NEVER abdicate. Period. She may decide to have a regency for a year or two if she wants to have some kind of pseudo retirement before she dies.
She'd still be active in the things she enjoys doing. But would not have to spend hours at her desk 365 days a year.
People who are obsessing about the Queen's health and how long she will "last" may be the same people who aren't particularly looking forward to the reign of KCIII.
I say to them: Get over yourselves.
He's not perfect. Who is? There is plenty to like about him, though.
The UK and other British Commonwealth realms (eg Canada, NZ) are lucky to have this wonderful monarch and her three wonderful heirs. OK, George is only 7, but I have high hopes for him.
Long may each of them live, and be appreciated for the individuals they are.

Thread: This clip re the #VAgov race has an interview w/ a white woman claims "there's not a lot of racism" in Loudon County & (unironically) that "if you talk about it less you're gonna notice [it] less."
I'm a white woman who disagrees with her take.
I know there's a damaging and unacceptable level of racist behavior in every county of the US (and FWIW in every part of my own country, NZ.) Logically, the level of it in the state of VA would be above average for the US.
Rs are being blatantly obvious in their racism now.
My understanding of the level of racism in the GOP has changed over the past 5 years. It was more well hidden.
Yes, racism from one group to another can be found among Rs and Ds. This thread is about racism toward African Americans, as the largest group affected.
I've been thinking about what the pro-democracy majority of Americans can do with Trump assets that will be seized. The Old Post Office in DC is owned by fed govt & TFG has a license to occupy.
It would make an excellent museum to help us #NeverForgetJan6 & far right fascism.
Mar-a-Lago was built for a cereal heiress who left it to the federal govt in her will. The idea was for it to be a kind of Winter White House. That idea never took off and it was put up for sale in the 80s. The buyer was Donald Trump, who restored and modernized it. (continued)
When his assets are seized the property could again be in the hands of the government. I think the residents of Palm Beach deserve the peace and quiet they enjoyed before 2017, so increasing the traffic and noise is a bad idea...
That is the name of a movement around the world that IMO can be summed as anti-racism. (And yes, it is about racism toward one group, for good reason.)
BLM is also the name of a political organization.
Owens, like other fascists, doesn't care whether readers understand the difference between talking about a specific organization & a mass movement.
They have latched onto the domestic terrorism history of some past BLM associates.
For me it's nothing to do with politics. (The far right fascist maga movement hates Alec Baldwin. Others are inclined to excuse reckless mistakes by people they like.)
I try to use an objective approach without fear or favor.
He was criminally negligent and reckless.
If I were Alec Baldwin's legal or PR advisor I'd recommend he:
-Release my draft statement without alteration
-Cancel the entire production and ensure everyone receives full compensation
-Never make another movie or act in one
-Lay low and say nothing until after the trial.
1. There an be no clearer sign that Condoleezza Rice is, like McConnell, McCarthy and the rest, bought and paid for by wealthy donors. Not directly, but in the shadows.
2. #TheView only invited her onto the show to talk about the late Colin Powell. Instead, she...
... blatantly used the opportunity to act as an apologist for the GOP / GQP at a time when the survival of American democracy itself requires her to speak up.
3. As a black woman, she clearly doesn't care about the well-funded assault on voting rights that's more urgent than
1. We can't verify if Dennis Prager did in fact test positive for Covid. 2. We can't be sure he is unvaccinated. 3. It's possible that an unvaccinated person his age could survive Covid, but his cult followers are drawing all the wrong conclusions from his claim, as intended.
Here is the video & transcript, without commentary (from the above linked @JasonSCampbell tweet.) Keep an eye out for follow up articles with new info about Dennis Prager's claims re Covid. Prager is one of many RW influencers deploying the same schtick.
Before becoming #XGOP on 1/6, I never paid much attention to Prager and his disinformation media outlet @PragerU.
Since almost every national-level GOP politician officially came out as a far right fascist in 2021, I've been reviewing various media outlets in a new light...
