Niche/niCH,nΔSH/
- a specialized segment of the market for a particular kind of product or service
simply put, serving an underserved market
this is business 101 and no different
when building an NFT series.
- some seek family friendly wholesome projects (#coolcats)
- others seek max token reward projects (#cyberkongz)
- others support innovative web3 projects (#anonymice)
why is it important to identify your niche?
- in a crowded market place,
you have to be the best
in your niche to be successful.
- no one remembers second best.
ie. if you are wanting a rolex
that ppl can recognize in web3,
you buy a #cryptopunk
how do you develop your niche? 1. your resource 2. your market 3. your solution 4. your competition
1. your resource
look at your surroundings, your friends, your network,
your daily life, your browsing history (*ahemπ)
what inspires you.
what are your interest?
what puts you down a rabbit hole?
what is most align/comfortable for you?
ie. when i first started @lilfooks
i looked at what inspires me.
its my little daughter, jordyn.
shes is almost 3.
mischievous. innocent.
a dreamer.
2. your market
pinpoint one subset of the market and
profile them deep.
this allows you to be hyper targeted with
the art, the language, the references, etc.
don't be afraid to narrow down on your audience.
when you try to speak to everyone - you end up speaking to no one.
ie. for @lilfooks my target is "david".
a 35 year old new dad
hes working a decent job making 80k/year
trying to make it, so he can provide.
yet he always puts family first.
wholesome. hustler.
washed up.
3. your solution
provide your solution to solve
one of their core problems.
remember, an NFT in essence
is a solution to a problem.
successful NFT projects is able to differentiate by invoking a feeling beyond the surface level flips ($)
money is what attracts people
connection is what keeps people
@richerd could easily flip for $10M, but he felt connected to his #cryptopunk
our goal for any NFT projects is to
transcend the initial flock of flips
to connect with people and
to provide them a new identity.
ie. problem for washed up "david"s
work is mundane, repetitive and dull.
nfts gave colors to david.
with @lilfooks "david" finds the long lost feeling of
innocence, recklessness, and fun.
to be a dreamer, once again.
4. your competition
now that you have a thesis in mind,
a solution to a problem
you need to find your competition.
seek them out, find their weakness.
improve upon them.
the beautiful thing about this space is all the copy pastas! (easier for real projects to win)
ie. pixel art invokes the feeling of nostalgia
reminds me of the pokemon days.
to stand out from my competition, @lilfooks may be an 8bit character
but is now in a new modern setting.
a setting that is fitting for todays world.
something i don't mind hanging on my wall.
Identifying my niche now allows me
to connect with my audience
allows me to find my core 1000 loyal fans
(my washed up dads)
@lilfooks won't just attract the washed-up dads.
moms, bachelors, students
will equally fall in love with us.
they fall for what we stand for.
Your Mark.
tomorrow - we will go over your mark.
this is the TRUE differentiator of
what will make your NFT project take off.
i believe we are in a zone called
"the dead cat bounce"
- short-term recovery in a declining trend.
- due to investors believing bottom has been reached.
today marks my 3mth in #NFTs
heres 5 things i've learnt
ππ§΅
ps: started with 2E,
0 tech skills,
0 twitter follower,
0 connections in the space.
(i share this, so you know im not talking from a high horse and u can do the same)
1. learn
if things seem complicated and way over your head, but ppl are talking abt it and there is buzz ard it. don't just wave it off. i did that with #nfts in March and once again when gen kongz were at 5E and when @AnonymiceNFT was free to mint...
