No, they didn't. They trained staff in how to best support students who were already sex working. Research shows 6% of UK students are engaged in sex work - and universities need to know how to support them.
I have no idea how anyone can write the sentence “university offers training for students in sex work”, look at it - WITH THEIR EYES - & think “yeah, that makes sense.” It’s like saying “universities train students in gang warfare” or “meth labs, now available on campus.” WTF??
It’s such a stupid thing to think!! I can’t get my head around that anyone would believe this, let alone publish it. “Universities train students in piracy”. “Universities train students in trading organs on the black market.” “Universities train students in mugging pensioners”
I am still struggling to understand how anyone thinks this is true!!! It’s blowing my mind. Like, listen to yourselves!!
You think uk universities have randomly decided to teach students how to fuck for money??!!!

1. I went for a run through the woods near my flats as it was getting dark. I passed 3 guys & each of them stood to the side, let me pass & smiled with their best “I’m definitely not a predator” smiles.
2. Now, I don’t want men freezing and panic smiling at women forever, but I also wanted to say cheers fellas
3. It was a small thing, but it really did make my run less stressful. Usually I would have run a different route to avoid passing them at all, or I would have been nervous as I approached & passed them (headphones out, eyes down).
Obviously the government now regard #CumGate as closed and are going to stop answering questions on this. So I want to make 100% sure I understand what they are saying has happened.

#Cummings’ wife fell ill with suspected covid so understandably he felt it best to return to work. Later that day, he grew concerned he & his wife would become so ill they would no longer be able to look after each other or their son, & returned home.
But he wasn’t able have himself and his family tested, as other government bigwigs had done. So Cummings reasoned his wife definitely maybe had covid (despite not having symptoms) and if she definitely maybe had covid, he could definitely maybe have it to.
One of the most frustrating things about having #ADHD is how many of the symptoms are universal - only at a much lower level. This leads well meaning folk to say things like “Everyone does that!” Or “I do that! Maybe I have ADHD.”
So here’s a thread on how ADHD is different ...
You do not have #ADHD because you daydream. You might have #ADHD if you cannot remember a single thing that was said in a meeting because you were rerunning episodes of The Simpsons in your head
You might have #ADHD if other people notice how messy your house / room is long before you do
I will not be supporting Jess Phillips to become the next leader of the Labour Party because she campaigns for regulatory models that severely hurt sex workers. She has also shown scant regard or respect for the wishes of those within the sex industry.
Phillips advocates for the ‘Nordic Model’ of criminalising clients, despite overwhelming evidence that this tactic actually increases levels of violence against sex workers.
You can read why it’s so dangerous & the research that evidences it here
Opening 5 mins cover how much time #PrinceAndrew spent with this utter piss stain. Flying back & forth to his private island, numerous posh sleep overs & royal birthday parties? Jesus. I’ve got relatives I’ve spent less time with. Here’s hoping HRH has a solid reason for this
This is one of the most profound & moving things that has ever happened to me as a lecturer - and will hopefully show why it’s so important for organisations like Stonewall to continue working with universities to create a safe space for all LGBTQ+ ppl.
(A happy story thread)
To set this up I have to take you back a year.
I was teaching a module on Victorian literature & culture, and a male student from a very conservative, religious background asked if he could do his essay on Victorian sexuality - we’ll just call him ‘A’.
Not a problem, says I. I recommended a number of books, including ‘Fanny and Stella’ by Neil McKenna - a biography of two trans women in the 19th century that also looks at gay subculture. I was slightly surprised, but A decided this was the topic for him and away he went.
