THREAD Dear @PerthandKinross @UKGovScotland @EducationScot @NicolaSturgeon this is abhorrent. We have been contacted by many parents, this is what one Mum who was herself sexually abused as a child has to say: #edutwitter #WomenEd #safeguarding
“ If you are a child being sexually abused/raped then how on earth do you process trying to answer these questions?”
“How do you answer whether you have had sexual intercourse? Do they mean what is happening to you? Do you lie even though you have been taught to tell the truth? Will you be in trouble? Will anyone find out?”
“How do you process the question about contraception and the worry about pregnancy and STIs, which may even be the first time this concern has occurred to you?”
“Are you expected to process all this whilst filling out this survey in front of your peers (while desperately trying to hide your shame and embarrassment etc)?”
“Or do you take the survey home to fill it in, leaving you to deal with the upset in your room alone?”
“And can your abuser use it to convince you that other young children are having sexual intercourse as why else would they be asking about children having sex?”
“Of course rape/ #CSA is not sexual intercourse but that is not want an abused child will have been taught.”
“Where is the safeguarding designed in this survey to protect the mental well-being of sexually abused children?”
We have listened to tales of profound distress such as this, daily for over 2 1/2 years now. We do this for free, on top of our day jobs, on top of running our homes, on top of other volunteer roles, on top of caring for children, on top of caring for elderly relatives, on top…
of bereavement, on top of dealing with a pandemic. We do this every single day, for free because those whose job it is do not. People who are paid hundreds of thousands of pounds of public money are in complete dereliction of the duty we all share to safeguard children. If this…
is your job and you are not doing it, hang your head in shame. There are far too many of you.

Really disappointed to see you supporting homophobia & misogyny @clarebalding Did you check these resources before promoting? They undermine #safeguarding, misrepresent the law & deny same sex attraction.
Did you mean to support political indoctrination of children, in breach of the 1996 Education Act @clarebalding?

1. Children questioning whether they are trans need shielding from content on @CBBC & Childline, a mother has said…
Both the @BBC & the @NSPCC, which runs Childline, have come in for criticism for providing a one-sided view of transitioning.” #LGBT

2. We have reviewed the guidance provided by @NSPCC (lesson resources and guidelines) and @childline (guidance on their website). We have concerns with the content they have produced. See our report here: safeschoolsallianceuk.net/resources-2/fa…
3. Let’s look at all the ways their resources breach @educationgovuk This thread includes examples and is not exhaustive. Read the full guide for a thorough analysis.

THREAD
It is #RainbowDay of #SchoolDiversityWeek. Here is a roundup of all the issues with @JustLikeUsUK’s resources. We first wrote to @GavinWilliamson expressing concerns a year ago. It is very worrying to see
@educationgovuk still promoting them.

KS1 (age 5-7) maths resources which seem to be more about indoctrination than improving mathematics skills in small children.

Irresponsible attitude towards suicide. Imagine being a teen just realising you are same sex attracted & being told this means you may kill yourself? Or being told being black means you may kill yourself? Where are the @samaritans?

“Supporting trans pupils in school” from @JustLikeUsUK for #SchoolDiversityWeek

They state ‘do not share this document with staff outside of your school’. We wonder why?

Is it because it undermines #safeguarding? Breaches guidance & law or says biological sex is a spectrum?
#SchoolDiversityWeek promotion of puberty blockers taking no account of #KeiraBell ruling. Repeated conflation of sex with gender.

More misrepresentations of the law and undermining of #safeguarding from @justlikeus for #SchoolDiversity week. Advising hiding of child’s sex & mixed sex facilities, leaving schools open to legal action.

Next up from @JustLikeUsUK for #SchoolDiversityWeek we have this libelling of Julia Long (pictured).Julia & other lesbians have every right to assert their same sex attraction at a #pride march. Denying this is homophobic/misogynistic & a breach of 1996 Education Act. #WomenEd
Julia Long is a lesbian feminist activist. She campaigns against porn & the damage it causes women & girls as well as being a researcher for the femicide census #CountingDeadWomen. Julia & her wife @sargesalute are excellent role models for lesbian & gender non conforming girls.
We are appalled that @JustLikeUsUK are telling girls, just becoming aware that they are same sex attracted that they have no right to exclude ‘lesbians’ with penises from their dating pool. This is #rapeculture. It is abhorrent that @educationgovuk are endorsing this.

Inclusion & inclusive language: Balancing the rights of all.
This morning we have seen a lot of confusion in the education community regarding sex & gender, when children should & shouldn’t be separated by sex & ‘inclusive’ language.

#edutwitter #WomenEd #UKedchat
‘People who menstruate’ is not ‘inclusive’ language. It is offensive & dehumanising. When used in public health campaigns it excludes many women. Women with LD’s, women with EAL, women with poor literacy skills. The @educationgovuk is clear that it is girls who menstruate.
As well as being offensive (it is akin to the old fashioned misogynistic slur ‘bleeders’) ‘people who menstrate’, ‘cervix havers’, ‘uterus owners’ & all the other appalling euphemisms used for women & girls. It is politically motivated language & as such has no place in school.
