A running tape of the incompetence of the Ottawa Police Services Board, led by mayoral candidate @dianedeans. #ottnews
2018: “The Board is confident that Uday reflects all of the necessary qualities to help lead one of the most respected police services in North America.”
2020: "I truly believe that the work this budget will support will bring at least some of the change we so urgently need," @DianeDeans said.
This is in addition to promising a funding freeze in the 2021 budget to #ottcity residents which she then renegged on. #ottnews
After giving @ottawapolice more money, the Ottawa Police Services Board, led by @dianedeans has created a monster.
2022: "The Ottawa Police Service is in need of a third deputy police chief because one of its current deputies has been suspended with pay for nearly one year."
This is the person running for mayor so that she can show the same incompetence and poor judgement and questionable character (she lied to Ottawa residents about the funding freeze) that has been running this city #ottnews
This is how @dianedeans lied. No matter what she says she can't be trusted
2021: "Deans said the police services board is striving to find savings to honour its commitment to freeze the budget" The Board passed its 2021 budget with a $13.2 million funding increase #ottnews

So. We threaten people who take CERB and the unvaccinated. K.
I don’t like that people are unvaccinated either. However the response to #COVID has been cocked up by governments of every level and now they’ve found scapegoats for their own malfeasance and ineffectiveness
These are the same people who chose big box stores over grandma and lost. They played with people’s lives and lost. And we all lost as a result. The same governments that cut health care at the beginning of this pandemic 😷
And they will use the unpopularity of the unvaccinated as a wedge issue for political gain because they know they cocked up this pandemic response so badly.
Where did all of that federal money to fund contact tracing that was then dismantled, PPE that can’t be found, testing?
"If woke means an awakening to a critical consciousness of structural inequities",
honestly you gotta ask yourself, HOW IS THIS A PEJORATIVE TERM? And why has #cdnmedia adopted it with alacrity as a put-down? Perhaps were we more "woke" we'd have more people alive in COVID
It has always baffled me how "woke" is something people run away from (probably because they're centrists who run from everything). Especially these days when we know our country that prides itself on fairness is anything but
I feel heard.
White people can be terrible hosts. They nickel and dime you for everything. It’s like they don’t know how to give of themselves without equating it to a transaction. They live transactionally and it’s sad bc they don’t know how to be a part of a community
This spills over into every part of their lives: their relationships are transactional and therefore lack depth and true emotional support. And if you say something they don’t like they cut off communication because it’s a transaction that didn’t go through to them
How many times have you been to a BYOB party or dinner 🙋🏾♀️
First time I told my parents about BYOB they were like “if you can’t afford to have a party/treat your guests why are you having a party?”
It’s white nonsense.
I'm loving @AnnamiePaul's resignation speech because she didn't shy away from the fact that the attacks against her have worn her down. That's true, that's real. This is real mental health shit #cdnpoli
The @canadiangreens kneecapped her then engaged in the gaslighting which is what many BIPOC experience in leadership positions. You can't window-dress and expect to solve everything
"Crawling over glass, spitting up blood". I love this. This is exactly what it feels like. She's being very real and I'm here for it. Canada needs to take a hard look at why it engages in so much #misogynoir and the Greens had better take a hard look at their racism #cdnpoli
The anti-vaxxers/maskers are experiencing a restriction of movement under public health order. Is it discriminatory? Perhaps, however this is where individual rights vs the greater good come into play and all democracies have that exception to freedom
Here's the thing though: these people have never faced a world where they are being restricted from entering spaces not designed for them. They're white, probably economically alright and they're angry because they're experiencing a world that BIPOC know so well
"What we need is fiscal and policy space to achieve sustainable development, to be nimble, to adapt and to innovate in ways that allow us to be true and faithful to the task of bringing prosperity to our people"
"We want an international order equally that recognizes that there must be different policy prescriptions to suit the circumstances that we all have. And we can still be friends."
That, my friends, is equity.
