I don’t like that people are unvaccinated either. However the response to #COVID has been cocked up by governments of every level and now they’ve found scapegoats for their own malfeasance and ineffectiveness

These are the same people who chose big box stores over grandma and lost. They played with people’s lives and lost. And we all lost as a result. The same governments that cut health care at the beginning of this pandemic 😷

And they will use the unpopularity of the unvaccinated as a wedge issue for political gain because they know they cocked up this pandemic response so badly.
Where did all of that federal money to fund contact tracing that was then dismantled, PPE that can’t be found, testing?

They’ll hoard it and tell you they slashed the deficit. This is all game. Why weren’t essential workers and precarious workers and Indigenous communities among the first to get vaccinated in the first wave? Where are the caravans of vaccines in racialized communities?

These governments have failed us and now they’re passing the buck. Had we vaccinated the world instead of hoarding vaccines we might be somewhere better. Our selfishness as a nation has come back to bite us in the as through government policies

But there’s always someone to blame on the back of the neoliberal ideology of “personal responsibility” even though the structures bet against you taking that responsibility. I’m here for everyone getting vaccinated but let’s not let these governments off the hook

Also let’s talk about the misinformation fuelling this anti-vaxx bs. First off it was governments who sold us the greatness of tech and INNOVATION while ignoring the problems since those were only being experienced by marginalized people at the time

Let’s be honest: the poor and working class are those who will suffer and those who aren’t getting vaccinated because of ideology will continue to be unvaccinated. So it’s a poverty tax. And that will disproportionately affect women and racialized ppl. Typical.

Let’s also be honest about this: these guys—and I do mean guys—are doing an end run to privatize health care by introducing user fees for those whose behaviours they don’t like. This is a dangerous
