Although I don't think anyone is surprised that the Houthi attack took place during the visit of #Israel's President Herzog, it is still notable >>
Yes, the Houthis' motto is "Death to #Israel" but there is also a more "rational" explanation as to why the Houthis and their backers (Iran) would want to send a clear message during the visit >>
To me, this is meant to send a message to Abu Dhabi that it shouldn't cross certain red lines when it comes to cooperation with #Israel, particularly when it comes to the military/security aspect.
The UAE is just on the opposite side of the Gulf from Iran. For Israel, this geographic position can be viewed as an asset. #Iran may be warning Abu Dhabi that closer military/security ties with Israel will come at a price.
Incidently, this may well push the UAE towards closer cooperation with #Israel but only to some extent - effectively enforcing some form of red lines/limitation

Houthi spokesperson speaking now with the details on what he dubbed "Yemen Cyclone III" operation (the third attack against the #UAE)
The Houthi spokesperson claims that a number of "important targets" in the Abu Dhabi Emirate were hit with Zulfiqar ballistic missiles #UAE#Yemen
The Houthi spokesperson also claims that "sensitive targets" were hit within the Emirate of Dubai using a number of Sammad-3 drones (similar claims were made in the past, no attacks have been reported in Dubai) #Yemen#UAE
Summary of last night in #Gaza & #Israel:
- 190 rockets fired towards #Israel from 19:00 to 07:00 this morning
- #Israel launched major air and ground strike using 180 planes plus 7th Armored brigade. Strikes focused on northern #Gaza, including tunnels network.
>>
- Hamas-run Health Ministry reported 119 dead, including 31 children, 830 wounded. #Israeli claims would suggest most of the dead are fighters, which might have been true before, but also true that recent artillery strikes seem to have caused far more civilian casualties.
- Rocket barrages against #Israel focused on southern #Israel. No barrage against central region.
- Does this mean #Hamas and PIJ arsenal has been seriously hit (as IDF claims) or that they are now pacing themselves understanding conflict will be more protracted than expected?>
#Breaking Hamas just claimed it used a new weapon: The "Shihab" drone to target an offshore gas platform yesterday and "military build-ups" near #Gaza today
IDF spokesperson released a video of one of these drones being intercepted
There are some evident similarities with Iranian made drones (to no one's surprise)
