Thread on the Russian invasion of #Ukraine - March 5
Aftermath of the shelling of power plant in Okhtyrka in eastern Ukraine. The power plant was shelled during the night of March 3-4. The city is without power since.
During the night, the mayor of Slavutych near Chernobyl, warned that the Ukrainian team at the nuclear plant are exhausted as they have been working for 10 days and cannot be replaced due to the lack of a safe corridor for them to go through.
In other news, Ukrainian farmers are well on their way to being the third largest army in Ukraine, if not the second.
Aftermath of shelling in Kharkiv (reports suggest this is a military base)
Meanwhile, some sources are concerned that, after the incident at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Russian forces are now also approaching the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant north of Mykolaiv.

There have been reports of clashes near Voznesensk, south of the plant
A Ukrainian official from Interior Ministry claims the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is now back under #Ukrainian control, after it was confirmed to have been captured by Russian forces yesterday
I would not consider this to be confirmed as of now - let's wait if it does get confirmed over the coming hours.

On cue: Just as Mariupol corridor is being set up for evacuation, the head of #Russia-backed "Donetsk People's Republic" Denis Pushilin claims that an explosion took place in Mariupol, blames a Ukrainian drone.

Typical Russian disinformation/tactics.
Now Russian news agency RIA quotes the Donetsk People's Republic as saying that Ukrainians are "refusing" to provide a humanitarian corridor in Mariupol.

No signs that this is the case. Ukrainians, have, however asked to clear the whole evac route
Ukrainian military intel posts this video (previously circulating on social media) of a plane being shot down above Chernihiv. Reports had claimed that Ukrainian forces were able to shoot one down before this video emerged.
Right out of #Russia's Syria playbook.

In its last update, the Ukrainian military reported several Russian movements east of Kyiv, including in an effort to advance towards the area between Borsipyl and Brovary (map is just to show these two positions). Image
Russian forces are also amassing in the Kozelets area, while also trying to advance towards the Kaniv Hydroeletric Power Plant (they are still quite far, from my understanding of their position).
